A Message from Pets On The Point.Teddy's Grooming ExperienceWe’re sharing this message to provide transparency and educate our valued clients about a recent situation that has deeply saddened our entire team. Our goal is always to ensure the well-being and comfort of the pets entrusted to us, and we want to address the concerns raised in a recent review.**Teddy’s Visit**Teddy, a recently visited our salon. Upon his arrival, we conducted an initial inspection, but it wasn't until further examination that we discovered the extent of his matting, which was significantly worse underneath his coat. This can happen when owners brush only the surface of the coat, leading to compression underneath, or when a dog is washed or gets wet and dries without being thoroughly brushed out, causing the coat to tighten.**Our Approach to Humane Grooming**As a salon committed to humane grooming practices, we do not de-mat dogs, especially senior dogs like Teddy, as the process can be too stressful and painful. It’s important to note that it is against animal welfare law to allow a dog to remain matted or to do anything that may cause them pain or distress.**Communication with Teddy’s Owners**Upon discovering the matting, we immediately contacted Teddy’s owner, Kusanda, and explained the situation. We provided two options:1. To shave Teddy now, understanding that this would result in a very short coat, and we advised using a jacket to keep him warm.2. To collect Teddy and wait until the weather warms up for the shave.Kusanda agreed to have Teddy shaved during his visit. Upon collection, Kusanda’s husband paid for the service, including an additional charge for the extra time and care required for a senior dog’s mat removal. He also expressed understanding of the situation.**Addressing the 1-Star Review**Four days later, despite their past satisfaction with our services, we received a 1-star review from Teddy’s owners. Our entire team is deeply saddened by this review, as we pride ourselves on the care and professionalism we provide to every dog in our care.As professional groomers, we take no pleasure in shaving down a dog, especially one we’re skilled in hand-scissoring. However, in cases like Teddy’s, we prioritize the dog’s comfort and welfare above all else, and we always communicate our reasoning and advice before proceeding with any grooming.**A Request to Our Community**We are committed to maintaining our reputation and ensuring the well-being of all the dogs we groom. It is distressing to receive a 1-star review when we took all necessary steps to ensure Teddy’s comfort. We ask that you understand the situation from a professional standpoint and, if you believe this review is unfair, please consider reporting it.
