It’s going to be a hot day across NSW today ☀️
A general reminder to be considerate of our animals on high temperature days - let’s keep our animals safe by:
- Providing shade & fresh water: Always ensure your pets have access to cool, shaded areas and fresh water to stay hydrated.
- Avoid the heat of the day: Walk your dogs early in the morning or late in the evening to avoid the hottest parts of the day. Their paws can burn if walked on the hot pavement. If you can’t keep your hand on the ground for 5 seconds, it is too hot for your dog!
- Watch for signs of heat stress: Heavy panting, drooling, or lethargy can be signs of heat exhaustion. Act fast if you notice these symptoms.
- Not leaving our animals in the car: Never leave animals in a parked car, even for a short time—temperatures can soar to deadly levels quickly.
- Cool your pets down: Offer cooling mats, ice packs, or a kiddie pool for them to enjoy.
Pace, Tux and Gus all have their kiddie pools to help them keep cool on hot days 😎💧
