PUTTING VICTORIA'S LOCAL PRODUCERS ON SHOW

Earlier in January the Hon. Ros Spence MP, Minister for Agriculture, launched the new Vic Grown – Regional Activation Grants Program (RAGP) for expressions of interest (EoIs), with applications accepted until midnight 16 February 2024. The media release is available on the Premier’s media centre website here www.premier.vic.gov.au/putting-victorias-local-producers-show

Delivered as part of the Victorian Government’s Vic Grown initiative, RAGP aims to shine a light on the high-quality food and beverages produced in Victoria’s regions and connect local producers with local consumers. Through RAGP, Agriculture Victoria is seeking EoIs for the delivery of localised activation events that promote and support local consumption of local produce. Events may include vibrant farmers’ markets, immersive food and beverage festivals, or collaborative tasting sessions, directly engaging local communities with producers. RGAP is targeted at Regional Tourism Boards, regional bodies and food and fibres groups who can deliver these events.

Funding of up to $70,000 per application is available to support:
👉 delivery of a localised activation event with a minimum of five local agribusinesses that meet Vic Grown eligibility
👉 activations held between 1 March 2024 to 1 March 2025
👉 project management costs (capped at 10% of total eligible project costs)
👉 participation fees to local agribusinesses

Detailed instructions on the application process is available on the Agriculture Victoria website here www.agriculture.vic.gov.au/support-and-resources/funds-grants-programs/vicgrown-regional-activation-grants

🎉 Do you have an event coming up in Murrindindi Shire? To ensure you are covering off on any Council requirements, we ask that you submit an Event Notification Form via our website with as much notice as possible. 📝

🏰 Council has recently implemented a permit process for the use of inflatables, including jumping castles, on Council-managed land and sites to minimise the risk of injury and keep our community, particularly children, safe. ⚠️ Inflatable devices can be hazardous if they are not set up and operated correctly. 📝If you’re planning on having inflatables at your next event, you must go through a permit process and provide evidence to Council that demonstrates you are meeting Australian Standards. Council officers will guide you through the process, so please get in touch with us nice and early. ☎️

For more information on running events in Murrindindi Shire and to submit an Event Notification Form 📝, visit our website at www.murrindindi.vic.gov.au/organisingevents or get in touch with our Events team on 5772 0333 📞

Such a fun day of watching the filming of this music video. Thank you to Craig Lloyd and Carter & Carter for dedicating this song to all Little Country Stores - we are feeling very proud to be part of this special project.

It has begun.
If you're driving along Marysville-Buxton Road in coming weeks, take it easy on the road. There are lots of tourists taking photos of the poplars, and they don't seem to be very aware of traffic.

HOP TO THE EASTER FAIR ON SUNDAY 🐰

THE Alexandra Easter Fair is happening on Sunday, April 9 from 10am until 3pm at Rotary Park in Alexandra. It is an all ages, family-friendly community event welcoming locals and visitors alike, with great stalls, rides for the kids, and entertainment all day including a visit from an egg-laden bunny.
The event showcases a number of art and craft stalls, local food, wineries and breweries will be providing tasting and sales, live music, children’s entertainment and much more.
“At the moment we’ve got about 28 stalls including four or five different food stalls,” organiser Andrew Embling said.
“We’ll also have music on the day. We’ve got Kevin Sullivan and The Sulli-Vans. They’ve come out of Sydney and they’re on tour most of the time. They’re a family that travel around playing music. On Good Friday they’re up in Bourke, New South Wales, then they get their caravan down to Canberra and come down to us.
“The week after us they’re on the way to Kooyong Festival so they’re on the road all the time. They’ve won a couple of awards in Tamworth and they’re definitely a band worth coming to have a look at. They play a kind of country-contemporary music.
“We have a trio playing as well that have come out of Gippsland so there will be music all day on the stage. They do covers so it’ll mix it up a little bit.”
It is a $2 gold coin donation for entry and all of the money donated goes towards the running of the day and keeping the Visitor Information Centre Open.
“It’s always a great day,” Mr Embling said.
