It is with profound sadness that we express our deepest sympathy and support to the family and friends of Ilona Gerencser, who died after a long illness.

Ilona served as a dedicated Murrindindi Shire Councillor for the Kinglake Ward from 2020-2024.

Her passion and commitment to the Kinglake Ranges community was evident in all she did. Ilona’s tireless efforts to improve mental health, wellbeing, and road safety for residents have left a lasting impact. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her unwavering dedication and significant contributions to our community.

Our thoughts are with Ilona's family and friends during this difficult time.

🐍 STAY SAFE THIS SNAKE SEASON 🐍

🌞 As warmer weather arrives, snakes are becoming more active in Victoria. It's essential to be prepared and stay safe!

❓ What can you do to keep yourself and your loved ones safe?

👣 Watch your step - keep an eye on pets and children when outside
🌱 Keep your yard tidy - remove debris and keep grass cut
🎓Learn lots - learn about local snake species and their habitats.
🤳 Know who to call - if someone is bitten, call 000 immediately

🤔 Did you know snakes are protected under the Wildlife Act 1975, and capturing, harming, or killing them is illegal? If you encounter a snake, keep your distance and contact local wildlife authorities if needed.

🌳 Let’s enjoy the outdoors safely this season!

ℹ Situations concerning snakes and other wildlife are handled by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA). For more information, contact DEECA on 136 186 or visit www.ffm.vic.gov.au/media-releases/snake-season-is-here,-be-prepared-and-stay-safe

Good evening all

I’ve had a number of questions about where and how to vote - so I thought I would share today’s media release from the VEC - please note ballot papers must be in the post or delivered to the ELECTION office at the Murrindindi Shire Council Office in Yea by 6pm Friday 25 October.

I will continue to share information about the process as people ask questions. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask in the comments.
Cheers
