Animals are more sensitive to sound than us. That, combined with not understanding what's happening, makes firework noises very stressful for them!

Startled pets can run away from home or get lost during firework events. To protect against this, ensure your pet is microchipped, and keep your contact details up-to-date. This helps return your pet to you in case they get lost.

Here are some tips to keep your pets safely inside during firework season:

🏠 Set aside a space in your home where your pets feel safe, insulate it with blankets, and reward your pets when they're relaxing there.

❤️ Use pheromone products, especially around their safe space.

🐰 Before fireworks start, move small pets to a place indoors which you have insulated from sound with lots of bedding and blankets.

🪟📻 Close windows and curtains to insulate the sound, and provide background noise to muffle the sound. Don't forget to lock the windows and any pet flaps.

🙂 Always keep calm. If you're stressing out, your pet will too!

💩 Fear can sometimes make pets toilet in the house. Don't punish them for being afraid.

💕🐾🥳🎊Wishing all of our wonderful clients and their pets a happy, safe and healthy new year 🎊🥳🐾💕

Due to the rise in cases of parvovirus across Australia, the AVA is reminding owners to make sure their dogs are up-to-date with their vaccinations to protect them from the highly contagious and potentially fatal disease.

All puppies from six weeks of age should be vaccinated against parvovirus and other canine diseases. Follow-up vaccinations are also required, and your local veterinarians can advise on the best type of protection for your area.

If you are unsure of your pet’s vaccination status you should contact your veterinarian for advice.
