Thank you everyone who joined us today at Cattai wetlands for the BioBlitz. There was a great turn out. It's always great seeing kids getting involved and actively asking questions and helping spot animals. Education about our wildlife is key to encouraging the next generation to help protect our native animals. Thank you to MidCoast Council for organising such a great event and inviting us to assist. We look forward to working with you all in the future to increase the knowledge of the species found in the area.

Hi all i know it has been a while and im sorry, my recovery hasn't gone to plan and i am not as able as i hoped to be after. This has led to me being unavailable a lot and i appologise.
This weekend i am taking some time out and will be unable to take calls until monday. I will have no reception at all but thats how it goes at times.

Have a great weekend and hopefully you have no scaley visitors.

I just want to take this time to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year. Hopefully everyone has a safe and fun time and as always if you need me call 0434490133.

For those who have been wondering i am recovering well and i am starting to walk again now. If you have snake questions or need snakes removed please call but i will be asking questions about the situation because i am learning to walk again. Thank you to those who have been very understanding during this time of recovery and i will add that i still have a long way to go so forgive me if im unavailable. I cant be on my feet much or the pain gets to much to handle.
I am also going to be raising my prices which i havent done for roughly 4 years now but with fuel prices having gone up over 60c per litre in the last 12-18 months it is starting to become an issue. I will still be doing my best to keep prices down but i have costs to cover.

As always i hope you dont need my help for your sake but we are available again and will do our best to help where possible.

05/01/2022

I have been notified that the person filling in for me while i am recovering is moving away on the 11th of january, unfortunately this means nobody will be available until i am back on my feet. At this point in time i have no ETA but i will post here when i know more.

Merry christmas from us and a happy new year.
Hopefully you have a great and safe time

Unfortunately slightly gory but this is reality.
I was called to a house for a snake and when pointed in the direction i noticed a decent gap under the fence so a quick look and no sign so i looked over the fence and spotted 3 dogs, 1 with this eastern brown snake in its mouth.
I quickly went to the neighbour and explained the situation and was given access to the yard and eventually i was able to get the dog to release the snake. I explained the urgency of the owner seeking treatment and called a local vet to organise to have the snake euthanized, while on the phone i checked if they were available to treat the dogs and passed the info on to the owners. I never heard about the outcome for the dogs but hopefully it was good news.
Unfortunately for both these things almost always end with 1 or both needing urgent treatment.

This is a horrible side of what we do but what is worse is humans who feel the need to kill a snake after calling us to remove it. We do our best to arrive as quick as possible while not breaking any laws but arriving to find a dead snake is disheartening and illegal.

If you want a snake removed please call 0434490133. If you're going to kill it before we arrive please save us the hassle and call the police direct.

Due to an injury i sustained last year i will be having surgery on 29/11/21 and will be out of action for an extended period of time. During this time jayden will be taking calls and catching snakes for me.
So if you call and its not me, don't be alarmed. I will be back in action by next spring hopefully.
In the mean time i will be monitoring this page still when possible to answer questions and so on but for snake relocations please call 0434490133

This rather chunky eastern brown snake was relocated from a house west of coolongolook recently. It had found a nice place to try and shed its skin but due to that being close to the front door the home owner wasn't comfortable leaving it there. It was relocated to a forrest nearby with a dam which will have food but also the water will be handy to help it shed.
Remember that anyone catching snakes is required to be insured and charges accordingly because of the costs associated, so be careful going with cheap because it is highly likely they aren't insured and if they are claiming to be part of a wildlife organisation then they are volunteers and not to charge.
If their fee is based on venomous or non venomous that is an indication of their confidence in their own ability.
Be sure to call a licenced catcher by checking the link below.

A friend of mine called me a couple of weeks ago (yes i know I'm a bit late at posting) about a python or 2 in their shed. Turns out there were 4.
A bit of climbing and wrangling and all were relocated to a nearby forrest to enjoy life and hopefully not become a problem for anyone else.

If you have a snake you want relocated please call 0434490133. If you would like a snake identified please send a clear photo or 2 and we will call you asap.
We operate 24/7.

If you would like to know if the person you call is licenced this link has a list including the area they cover

It sure has been interesting these last couple of years, between the drought, fires, floods and covid. It has definitely been a lot slower for us than the years before the drought but we keep going and while it is slowing down due to the cooler weather this by no means snakes will not be around.
Snakes do not hibernate nor do reptiles in general but they do brumate which is similar in that they become less active but will still be out basking on warm sunny days and hiding away in warm places during colder weather or on the move to find a better or safer place to hide. Continue to be aware and careful and don't think that just because it is cold they are gone.
We continue to be available if needed during winter so don't hesitate to call 0434490133 for any snake issues or send a photo if its just for identification.

📸 photo taken by jayden a few weeks ago for a snake he was sent to catch and yes it is a rubber snake.

I want to do a public shout out to some of our recent customers especially those who have donated a little extra to help cover the cost of travel for the flood victim removals we are doing. Its so heart warming to see the strong community spirit in such a trying time.

27/03/2021

I posted this to the flood group recently and thought i should post here as well.
Due to the floods we are offering our services to remove snakes from flood victims free of charge.
We have done a few lately and will continue to do so in this trying time.
As a community we will get through this as we have multiple times over the last hand full of years and before that.
Once the clean up is done we will go back to our normal fees.

20/03/2021

Hoping everyone is safe at this stressful time. I spent yesterday helping friends but unfortunately the water came a lot higher than expected.
The clean up will be messy but we are available to help if needed.

Just after the last post i received a call from a lady that is unfortunately for her a regular caller. This time she had this beautiful juvenile brown tree snake at her door. This species is venomous but not considered dangerous to humans.

This juvenile marsh snake was about 30 minutes old when this was taken. The stuff on the tail is some skin that hadn't shed off yet.
Mum had been removed from a house and gave birth before release.

Due to the number of juvenile snakes being found recently i have decided that from now until the end of April. If you call 0434490133 and have me come out to remove a snake and you find another within 24 hours i will return at no extra cost and remove any snakes found.
This offer is not valid if we have to refer another catcher as they do not work for us.

If you want a snake identified please send a clear photo to 0434490133 or for relocations please call 24/7.

This is 1 of the cooler things i have caught recently. This is a Yellow faced whip snake which is 1 of my favourite species of small elapids (front fixed fanged venomous snakes) but it is also sporting some racing stripes which makes it even cooler to me. This species is mildly venomous and generally not considered dangerous to humans.
If you have a snake you want identified please send a clear photo to 0434490133, if you want a snake removed please call.

This is a species we don't get to see very often which means when we do its a nice surprise.
This is a Golden Crowned Snake, mildly venomous but generally not harmful to humans and usually very uninterested in biting.
This guy was removed from a bedroom at failford recently late 1 night.

I recently received a call from a caravan park at harrington about this big diamond python feasting on 1 of the local wild bunnies under someone's van that was planning to leave.
We attended and relocated it along with its food but once released it wasn't interested in the food, I'm sure something else will enjoy the meal.
If you have a snake you want identified please send a clear photo to 0434490133, if you want a snake removed please call.
