Cowboy Dressage Clinic with Lyn Ringrose-Moe
What a fantastic weekend Tammy my mare and I have had at BlackHorse Lodge.
I thoroughly enjoyed the 2 days of learning with an amazing clinician and founder of Cowboy Dressage Lyn Ringrose-Moe.
It has given me such a better understanding of the sport and also sharpened up a few things as well.
A big thank you to Leigh and Paul of BlackHorse Lodge for organising and hosting. Such a great weekend.
If you’re thinking of having a go at this sport don’t hesitate. It is such an inclusive and inviting environment for any level rider. It creates a better relationship with your horse. Highly recommend 👍🏼
********Cowboy Dressage*********
What a fantastic new equestrian discipline that emphasises and encourages a rider to be in harmony with their horse which in turn creates a soft feel.
We took our younger horse Hudson this time to a Cowboy Dressage competition at BlackHorse Lodge on the 2nd & 3rd of March and after the 2 days of showing Bec and Hudson came away with the highest score of the show.
To say I am proud of both Bec and Hudson would be an understatement. You once again proved that with dedication and hard work you can achieve great results. Bec came away with the highest score of the competition. So happy for you and am excited to see your partnership grow with your beautiful boy Hudson.
I’m so keen to see this sport grow as I truly believe it is something everyone can have a go at, as it is such a relaxed and encouraging environment.

Hip Control….
Learning to get control and be able to move all body parts is vital to creating a great foundation. Once established you can choose whichever discipline you desire.
Good Horsemanship is exactly that😊
Foundation is everything!!
Same day as the leg yield video. 3rd ride back and it’s nowhere near perfect but shouldn’t take long to tighten it all up!❤️
Wow…😳
Tammy hasn’t been ridden for 3 Years!!! And she has come back in like she hasn’t had a day off 😊
Working on her lateral movement!
Amazing what a good foundation does for them ❤️❤️❤️❤️
And the next run was a huge achievement for a nervous and tense little mare who started the clinic unable to even contemplate crossing over a bridge being lead. The final test started a bit shaky through the poles that were new for her that day but gee did she nail the bridge crossings!! Congratulations Carly and Rose 👌🏼.
We would like to share a couple of runs from the short course that we put together to end our obstacle clinic on the weekend. This was for the participants to showcase what they had learnt. Here is Cate our winner of this little competition 👏👏
Last one finishing off nice and soft and relaxed!! Love that stop!!
Ride 7 cantering on the other lead!!
2nd video ride 7. In this one we also canter showing up a little more resistance but not bad for a little mare that hasn't done much!!
Here is Ella at ride 7. Still got work to do but no swishy tail also starting to get a better rhythm and so soft. Also loves to stop!😳 Look out Kristy 😉
Here is some video footage of Kristy Benning's horse Ella. Sent to me to further her training. The first 2 videos are of day one after spending 15 minutes in the round yard working on her learning to bend and soften. You can see throughout the videos she is a bit resistant and a very swishy tail also very inconsistent in her stride. But as you can see she is really trying for me.
