When your dog stays with us, whether it be for Doggy Day Care or Dog Boarding, they become a part of our family. We love dogs and enjoy taking care of your beloved pooches. Service includes daily walks, play time, one-on-one time.

We are not like other places. We have a small personal approach to our care. We will only ever accept 1- 4 dogs at a time to ensure your pets get the care and attention they deserve. We do not lock up dogs in kennels. Your pets are free to roam. We treat them as we do our own dogs, who love visitors and consider them their new best friend.

Famous Dogs 🐶

The dog in 1981’s ‘Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior’ simply named “Dog”, was obtained from a local dog pound and trained to perform in the movie.

Because the sound of the engines upset him, he was fitted with special earplugs. After filming was complete, he was adopted by one of the camera operators.

This afternoon we said our goodbyes to Cobb and Ernie. We loved having them stay, our two doggies enjoyed lots of play and puppy piles with them. We will miss them very much. When your dogs stay with us, they become a part of the family 🐶🐾❤️

Every now and then we get to look after a dog that reminds us of a previous fur baby. Looking after Ernie has reminded Leon of his childhood dog Barko. Watching the bond between Leon and Ernie develop during this stay has been super sweet 🐶🫶🏽

Parvo is still rampant in the areas. We have just had our 10th dog tested positive today at the MAMF.

Areas identified are;

Kurri Kurri - Railway Street, Galloway Street, Maitland Street, Coronation Street

Greta - Dalwood, New England Highway, Clift Street, Nelson Street

Cessnock - Alkira Street, Coulson Street, Thorp Street, Aston Avenue, Brown Street and Hutton Street

Weston - O'Toole & possibly McBlane

Paxton - Frances Street

Tenambit - O'Hearn Street, Goldingham

Woodberry - Frewin Avenue, Kingstown Road

Singleton Veterinary Hospital has put up a post they have confirmed cases within Singleton & Branxton

Numerous vets not only in our area but the Newcastle areas including RSPCA have also dealt with parvo cases. Please check your animals vaccination status and keep them safely secure in your homes. Their lives are in your hands.

🌿 Ever noticed your dog having a munch on some grass? The medical name for eating strange, or non-food items is Pica.

🐶 Although every dog breed is different, some commonalities of behaviours and actions between them exist – one of these being that dogs eat grass. There are a number of reasons why dogs eat grass. These include as a distraction from boredom, they enjoy the taste or texture or to fill a void in their nutrition.

🖐🏽 Calm down - Eating grass usually isn’t harmful to your dog’s health. However, make sure you keep your pet away from grass that has been treated by pesticides or chemicals and never let them eat mowed grass clippings.

❌ Mythbusted - The fact that dogs eat grass to induce vomiting is a commonly held myth. Only a small proportion of grass eating results in vomiting, suggesting that there are potentially other factors that cause the vomiting. If your dog shows signs of discomfort and is eating grass, they may have a medical problem such as gastric reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, or pancreatitis. It would be best to see your veterinarian to rule out serious medical conditions and receive appropriate treatment.

🧑🏽‍⚕️ Can it be resolved? Figuring out why your dog is eating grass is key if you have concerns about their behaviour or are hoping to train them out of it. And as always, if your dog is eating a large amount of grass and you are concerned, it may be worth a chat with your vet for advice and treatment.

Morning pats with Shine and she gives the little love paw 🥹 No better way to start the weekend 🐾

Giving out treats doesn't always go to plan and sometimes gets a little chaotic 😂 We had some happy doggies last night. A reminder that dogs won't be perfectly behaved all of the time and we never expect them to be. In hindsight this was given a bit too close to when we arrived home and didn't give them time to settle. We were all excited. We had some jumping and snatching, typical behaviour of an overexcited dog. The next time your dog does something you disapprove of when giving a command, ask yourself what conditions and environment was created for your dog before requesting something of them. Sharing this video because pets, like life, aren't always picture perfect and that's okay.

Meal times with multiple dogs can be tricky, especially with those who are dominant with their eating habits, however we are so proud of how well all doggies have fallen into the feeding time routine. Breakfast this morning was a breeze 🐶🙌🏽

When your beloved pooch stays with us, they become a part of our family. They are treated the same as our own, no exclusions or separate areas. Here is Shine with our two doggies last week being good dogs for treats ❤️🐶❤️
