I hoped for the best and prepared for the worst. I hope all my family of clients and followers are safe and OK. I have some cleaning up to do but nothing serious.

Please stay safe while Ex-TC Alf sticks around for a bit longer. At times I think the wind this afternoon is stronger than at times throughout last night. Remember that the ground is soaked from the rain and trees can still come down in the wind and aftermath.

If you don't need to go out, stay home and stay safe. Keep your power blackout supplies handy as I don't think we're done yet. 💖

🌀 SEQLD locals - please don’t get complacent. Just because the forecast crossing from days ago hasn’t eventuated, it doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Stay across reliable forecast data and remember that commercial TV media now have to “fill” their airtime they’ve now dedicated to Cyclone coverage.

My suggestion is watch their coverage selectively… very VERY selectively 🙄🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

ALFRED FORECAST CHANGES (WORSE)! A cyclone warning remains in place across SEQLD & NENSW from the Sunshine Coast to Grafton (yellow line). *Share & tag family & friends for this latest info* TC Alfred is a cat 2 winds to 130km/h located 300kms east of the Gold Coast moving WEST slowly. Due to competing steering winds, model data has delayed the original landfall which is now expected on Friday - HOWEVER - the system is expected to keep coming west today and tonight and be very close to the coast (with damaging winds heavy rain) then stalling, wobbling or becoming very slow moving against the coast during Friday. He is forecast to eventually cross and head inland near Brisbane. Very heavy rain on Saturday too!
This slow movement on the coast causes potentially bigger issues - longer exposure to the damaging winds, longer exposure to abnormal high tides & damaging surf, prolonged rainfall leading to flooding!
Our subscribers HSC super zoomed in cyclone track map has been updated and has times with shaded cyclone risk areas. There is heaps of forecast text for IMPACTS what, where & when. The subscribers SEQLD & NENSW daily rainfall maps have significant totals with a Very Dangerous Storm maps as well. Stay safe, still some time to prepare today, DON'T drop the ball and become complacent please!

🌀 🌧️💨☔️ CYCLONE !!??? 😵
What do I do???

So if you’ve never been through this little adventure before… here’s what I have done and are doing in the next day or two…

I have cleared my yard. Secured anything that could get picked up and flung around in Cyclonic winds. Don’t ignore the Cyclone if they say it will cross on Sunny Coast or further North… the Southern side of the Cyclone is tipped to be destructive.

I have NOT taped my windows 🤷‍♀️ I may rethink if we’re in line for a direct hit in Redlands.

I already have a fully stocked fridge and freezer BUT I have already identified what can be cooked on the BBQ if power goes out and stays down for a few days.

My gas bottle on BBQ needs looking at 🤔 I might need a refill and will sort that on Tuesday.

I have every ice pack I have already in the freezer so I have frozen ice packs to keep in freezer and fridge if power goes out.

I have filled every reusable water bottle and I already had some spring water bottles in stock. So I have water in case our water supplies are compromised.

I have torches with fresh batteries as well as plenty of candles and matches.

I have plenty of medications on hand if I need them.

I have back-up Power banks charged and am keeping my phone, Laptop and iPad charged and ready to go if needed

I will make sure I have a hard copy of my insurance documentation as well as my IT data back up on my portable hard drive ready to go if needed.

I have food and snacks and long life milk 👍

It’s all about having the critical stuff covered and don’t panic. Just be prepared and hope that you DON’T need any of it.

Cyclones are always unpredictable and remember that once they cross the coast, these annoying systems can stall and sit overhead SEQLD dumping a heap of rain. 😕

Stay up to date with forecasts. 👍

🚨Tropical Cyclone Weather Alert 🚨 UPDATED
Well, it's very rare we're on Cyclone Watch for Brisbane but it could be a bit wild around Wednesday / Thursday in Redlands. It's better to be prepared and it doesn't eventuate, then not be prepared and we get a direct hit of even a weak Cyclone or ex TC Tropical Low.

Keep an eye on BOM weather alerts for the Cyclone. I just watched a BOM update and current forecast is Thursday could be a direct hit for TC Alfred to cross the coast in SEQLD area as a category 1 or 2 Cyclone on current forecasts. 😲 Forecasts are being updated every 6 hours and next is due around 7pm.

If the forecast does happen and TC Alfred crosses North of Redlands... we will get some wild winds and rain as currently the worst conditions are forecast for areas south of the Cyclone.

Make sure family and friends are aware, because not everyone watches the news. Do a check of your property and tidy up any items that could get picked up in high winds. Trampolines, Guinea Pigs enclosures and chicken coops come to mind in particular.

And make plans for your pets NOW. If you have outside pets, make plans to keep them safe and keep an eye on the forecasts.

🌀 Tropical Cyclone Alfred, a category 2 system, has been moving southwards, while weakening during yesterday and overnight.

Tonight, it is forecast to turn south-east and move further away from the Queensland coast while weakening a little further.

Alfred is then expected to slow down and is likely to turn westward from Tuesday, moving back towards the southern Queensland coast.

Strong to gale-force winds may occur about K'gari (Fraser Island) today.

Severe coastal hazards are likely for southern Queensland and north-east New South Wales. A large and powerful to potentially damaging easterly swell as well as abnormally high tides are developing about exposed southern Queensland beaches and are forecast to extend to northern New South Wales from Monday.

Residents and communities living on the Queensland coast and the northern New South Wales coast are encouraged to stay up to date with the latest tropical cyclone information and forecast tracks in the coming days.

🚨🔥🥵🔥🚨
Monitor your pets today for signs of heat stress.

https://www.facebook.com/share/1JMEq15TSD/?mibextid=wwXIfr

As parts of Australia sweat through intense heat, it's important to look after our pets.

"Lots of animals are susceptible to overheating and that can lead to really serious heat stroke when the body can't maintain safe internal temperature anymore," RSPCA senior scientific officer Sarah Zito said.

"So we do, as pet guardians, need to make sure that we take precautions to try and help safeguard them against that."

Heat stroke warning signs for dogs include restlessness, excessive panting, drooling, drowsiness, lethargy and even vomiting.

🚨🥵Heat Wave and Pets 🥵🚨
Make plans to keep your pets cool and hydrated during this awful weather we're having today and for the rest of this week.

Please do not walk your pets during the heat of the day. Make sure they have access to shade, cool surfaces to lay on and cool water kept OUT of direct sunlight throughout the day. Check on them regularly.

A good trick is to freeze a solid block of ice (old ice cream tubs are great for this) then put the block of ice to melt slowly in a spare empty water bowl. As the ice melts it creates a ready supply of chilled water.

It's not just people who need help staying cool in summer. Dogs can experience heat stroke and there are simple ways to keep them safe.

🚨 PSA - SCAM ALERT 🚨
Be aware of this scam that is going around about Microchip registration renewals. Please share and make sure any family and friends are alerted.

SCAMMER ALERT - ALL QLD

It has come to our attention that scammers have been emailing people in Queensland claiming that they are from Petchip Network and advising that the recipient's pet's chip is expiring and a renewal fee needs to be paid to avoid the pet becoming unregistered.

DO NOT click on any links or respond to this email (or any correspondence from them). Pet chips do not expire and registration is associated with local Councils and not microchips.

If you wish to confirm your pet's chip details, head to Pet Address at https://petaddress.com.au/ or the company that your pet's chip details are registered with.
