Let’s talk TEMPERAMENT…
Which can be understood as an animal’s individuality or character. TEMPERAMENT is influenced by genetics, environment and interactions >^•^<

We take time to select our queens after learning about their genetics and checking bloodlines. Having thorough blood tests to check they have no hereditary health issues and finally taking a lot of time to sit and play with the girls so we can check their temperament. This means we meet them several times to get a good feel for them and after years of building trust with other breeders >^•^<

You should also take the time to get to know your breeder by asking lots of questions while playing with the litter… and be sure to meet the mum at least >^•^<

The character of the Ragdoll
They are known for their calm and very affectionate character. They are very sociable, gentle, kind, peaceful, and curious >^•^<

They have therapeutic effect people with health issues, as they transmit tranquility. We have sold many as companion cats to families and children with special needs with amazing stories of the positive impact they have had on those families >^•^<

This way they improving the emotional and physical state of those around them, these qualities make them popular in gerontological or chronic disease therapies >^•^<

They are very attached to their family to which they dedicate their whole existence. It will be normal to see them continually glued to the heels of people, eager for pampering and attention, so you must be careful not to step on them by accident >^•^<

As spring is fast approaching, we do have some queens starting to call and awaiting confirmation of pregnancy of another.

A week of sunshine and excitement here at May-Rosa Ragdolls as my girls are starting to come into season. Once mating is successful the girls have 9weeks gestation. During this time we give them lots of love, care and nutrition as they prepare to be mums.

Hoping everyone is keeping warm. As winter sets in, we are loving the winter coat our cats are developing… great for snuggles. But we are missing the shenanigans of having kittens in our home and are wondering what our litters look like now. Post a pic of your kitten/s both as a kitten and as an adult cat please so we can give them a virtual cuddle!

We have had many wonderful visits from 2 beautiful girls who have enjoyed playtime with our kittens every school holiday. The socialisation these visits create cannot be understated. This holidays visit was extra special as they got to pick 2 kittens to take home>^•^<
Cloudy and Stormy are now settled with their new family too and I hear are being incredibly adventurous in their custom built play area >^•^

Last cuddles with Robson aka Alvin. His owner is very excited to take him home today to be reunited with Tabitha from Sapphires litter. He nearly went home with Tabitha a few weeks ago … so it’s meant to be!
I’ll miss sharing pork chips with him at night while he’s on my lap watching tv… truth is I only really got one or two he loves them! >^•^

In the past month many of our babies have found their new homes, made new friends, had some interesting adventures… and found loving families. We will post some updates of our other babies in the coming week. >^•^<

Today, Lucinda Jane aka Lulu, left with her new mum. She’s a fun loving mischievous girl who gave me my first opportunity to play vet nurse late at night with a rush trip to vets after pulling her desexing stitches out >^•^<

On the weekend we had some special visits from some very excited girls, who can’t wait to take home their new babies - Eleanor is now called Stormy and Jeanette is now called Cloudy - what wonderful names >^•^<
For the next month we will be calling them by their names every time we feed them, play with them and just cuddle them >^•^<

Today Sapphires babies - Amber, Topaz, Zircon and Tabitha were introduced to the kitten nursery, a purpose built kitten playroom. As I read they explored and played. Ok, I didn’t do much reading …. just loved watching them having so much fun exploring and playing hide and seek and pouncing on each other. Now they are exhausted and I can read…
The kittens are introduced to their room once they are fully litter trained. In two weeks time Mishka’s five babies will join them and they will all play together >^•^

Last night our buddy Irwin (now Tyrone) left us for his new family. He has stayed with us as special part of our family until the right family came along. Now 9 months on and he has settled right in with his new family. The value of raising our cats in our home means they are ready to be part of yours >^•^<
We would like to thank Royal Paws Pet Transport who chauffeured Tyrone to his new home in Temora. They were amazing to deal with - friendly,caring and professional with fantastic tracking so I knew where he was during his long journey >^•^<
We do miss him but know he’s bringing joy to anyone who gets a cuddle 🥰

Sapphire’s litter are now almost 3 weeks old. They are so cute and playful and come running when they hear our voices in the hope of getting first cuddles >^•^<
Markings are now coming through and all have the same signature sapphire blue eyes 👁️
Their colouring and marking will continue to develop for the first 2 years of their life >^•^

Mishka and her 5 babies born Monday 27th Nov 2023. All healthy and mum is content!
This is Mishka’s last litter as she retires. I have truely loved the special time we have shared with her being a mum >^•^<
She never had a litter without me… she would always wait until I was home. Tapping me on the face at 3am and leading me to the nursery or sitting at my feet when I sat down after work and having contractions at my feet, sitting at back door as I hang out washing and telling me to hurry as it was time >^•^<
On the 16th Feb 2018 our beautiful Mishka arrived from Melbourne. After a long 12 month wait we were excited to have our first female queen…. that was the beginning of May-Rosa Ragdolls >^•^<
The joy she has bought cannot be understated. While the kittens are always heaps of fun she is an amazing mum always surprising them with the toys and gifts she carries around the house for them >^•^<
She is my ‘shadow’ following me everywhere and I love her companionship! >^•^<

Proud mum Sapphire with her beautiful babies. After a week of not leaving my side, constant cuddles and lots and lots of belly rubs….

How much? But it’s just a kitten…

It’s not so much the cuddly, purring, playful thing that you are paying for …

1. It’s not just a kitten to me, it’s been a big part of my family for 10-12 weeks and I will continue to be there for you and your new family member
2. It’s the genetic testing and health records that ensure your kittens parents are free of genetic diseases and are fit and healthy
3. It’s the pedigree papers and memberships of registered associations that give you piece of mind
4. It’s the immunisations, desexing and health checks your kitten gets in those first 10-12 weeks
5. It’s the high-quality diet to ensure a healthy pregnancy and the best start for your kitten.
6. It’s the kitty litter, trays, cleaning products etc

You pay for my ongoing knowledge gained at shows, by doing my own research and years of hands-on experience raising happy and healthy cats. Oh! and my grandmother was a registered breeder too so I have been learning for decades.

What I do not charge you for is love the kittens get from my whole family, the hours spent ~ socialising them, playing with them, training them - after all I can’t charge you because it’s my complete and utter joy - my passion! We welcome new owners into our home to meet the human and feline family. Our home is our kittens home not cages and sheds, they are our family!

Remember, to do your own research into breeders and check you are paying for everything listed above. Anything less and you are buying a kitten that may have problems and you are most certainly supporting a kitty farm not a registered ethical breeder who must abide by standards.

Spring means… breeding season

A cat's biological drive to reproduce kicks in when the weather is warm enough. Spring is in the air so it’s the start of kitten season, which usually runs from spring to autumn.

Our girls Mishka, May and Sapphire have rested well (and been spoilt) during winter and will be mated in the coming month or so. Our first litter is due in early October and ready to go to their new homes just in time for Christmas.

Our original girl Mishka will have her last litter this season and we will then retire her so she can relax on my lap and follow me around all day. She is affectionately known as my ‘shadow’ after all!
