MILO UPDATE
Little Milo all curled up in our home tonight. He’s lived with an older gentleman his whole life (7 years), his owner fell ill, went to hospital and unfortunately has now moved to permanent care. Milo spent three weeks in boarding. The great team at Tallowood Boarding Lodge recommended his family contact me to find him a new home. I actually had no bookings until this Sunday so decided to take him in. I picked him up today and he’s made himself right at home. He’s unfazed by the cats, cuddles up with the dogs and happy to sit back and watch the kids. We’ve discussed Milo seeing his owner but think it might be too difficult for either of them. Time has already passed and the time apart does make these transitions easier. My aim is rehome quickly too. Our home is only temporary, I quickly assess a dog in numerous situations, find out all I can about them, advertise and aim to settle them into a new home environment even sooner rather than later. It also helps with bonding to dogs. I typically try to detach a little from fosters, not assign too many emotions to them and just focus am my energy on finding a new home. I’ve seen a lot of neglect, cruelty and abandonment over the past 15 years so I had developed coping mechanisms in this tough industry. Milo does make me a little emotional. His life changed in an instance but he is so resilient and I’m confident he will make someone so happy. He’s still curled up with my on the lounge so I was inspired to share some of my insights to rescue and rehoming. He has several enquiries already so tomorrow I’ll read through them and find him an awesome home! 💖
