Lovely to see Maquereau transitioning into his new career with ease and living his best life with Gabbie Vallon !

"Maquereau", now known as "Bonjour" or "Bon Bon", enjoyed a successful racing career with Sharlee Hoffman Racing, winning over $200,000 in prizemoney! 💰

These days, "Bon Bon" is enjoying his new career post-racing and having regular lessons in the QOTT Subsidised Lessons Program with Gabbie 😃

According to QOTT Approved Coach Thomas Muehlenbeck (Equestrian Australia Level 3 Dressage Specialist), this gorgeous gelding is showing incredible movement and a real talent that better places him in Dressage than racing!

Gabbie has only owned "Bon Bon" since December 2023, so we can't wait to see what the future holds for this new partnership! 👏

🥇Maquereau wins Magnetic Island Mile and brings up win 52 for season 🏆

The stable’s flagship horse, Maquereau ($3.60F) rounded out a fitting end to a highly successful 2021-22 racing season with an emphatic victory in the Magnetic Island Mile Open Handicap run over 1609m at Townsville’s Cluden Park on Saturday afternoon.

With the hefty impost of 61kg allocated to the rising eight year-old, the decision was made to engage heavyweight jockey Aidan Holt to offset the requirement to carry any deadweight and the pair combined well to score eased down by a widening two lengths on the line. The win took the gelding’s stakes earnings to just shy of $200,000 as he embarks on a northern cups campaign over the next six weeks.

Stunning conditions greeted punters and participants alike at the Atherton Turf Club this afternoon for the final meeting of the 2021-22 FNQ non-TAB season.

The team saddled up five runners and were fortunate to bring home four winners in what was a fantastic way to round out the FNQ non-TAB season.

🥇Sogni ($2.40F) kicked off proceedings with a 1.75L win in race 1 for regular rider Lacey Morrison.

🥇 Maquereau adds NQ Cup to resume with demolition job

Stable pimp and far from friendly gelding Maquereau ($5) gave his rivals a galloping exhibition this afternoon at Cluden Park by careering away to take out the running of the 2022 NQ Cup run over the metric mile.

Partnered by regular rider Lacey Morrison, the hefty impost of 59kg on a rain affected track proved no concerns as the pair were positive from barrier rise, box seating throughout before shouldering their way into the clear on the turn to win by two lengths in what was an emphatic victory.

The win ensures the rising eight year old is now ballot exempt for the $150,000 Townsville Cup 2000m to be run at Cluden Park on Saturday 6 August.

🥇Heirborn airborne in stable debut

Stable newcomer Heirborn ($12 SP) kicked off his first North Queensland campaign with a stylish win this afternoon at Cluden Park, Townsville in the Benchmark 65 handicap over 1200m.

The hulking son of Charm Spirit was ridden perfectly by jockey Ashley Butler, with the pair positive from the get go, taking up a prominent position behind the leader in transit.

The 60.5kg impost proved no problem for the rising six year old who shouldered his way into the clear shortly after straightening as Butler drove the gelding to the front over concluding stages to score an impressive 0.4L victory.

For a horse that is only going to be better over distances further than the 1200m of today’s event, it was exciting to see the horse parade in magnificent order and he looks an exciting prospect with the North Queensland winter carnival fast approaching.

Congratulations to the winning ownership group of Heirborn, who are all new clients of the stable. 🍾🎉🍺

Fluttering too big, too strong at Tolga 💪

🥇Stable favourite Fluttering ($6) took out the BM55 handicap over 1400m on his home track Morrow Park, Tolga on Saturday afternoon under overcast conditions.

The rising six year old son of Shooting to Win was on the quick back up from racing at Cairns on Monday and rounded out a solid week for the team.

Ridden by apprentice jockey Isabella Teh, the pair camped on the back of the speed from their inside gate and proved too strong to score by 0.2L over their nearest rival.

With six weeks to go until the conclusion of the 2021/22 racing season, the team has amassed 45 winners from 214 runners, an effort we are pretty proud of.
