Brighthills Cattery is a small home-based cattery situated in the beautiful Bega Valley on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia. We began our cat breeding with the beautiful Burmese and it was while searching for a suitable sire for our Burmese Queen that we discovered the amazing Selkirk Rex. We are very particular about temperament when selecting our breeding cats and it was very ob

vious that these cats fitted snugly into the ‘wonderful’ temperament category. Apart from our love of cats it was our interest in breeding and improvement to a breed that attracted us to the Selkirk Rex, because this is a relatively new breed with a huge range of colours, hair length and eye colour to play with, we find them very exciting. The Selkirk Rex has an extremely lovable nature, the fact that they look like teddy bears and then adore to be cuddled makes them for us just a pleasure to breed.

It has taken quite a few years to finally produce an Australian born and bred Cinnamon Curly Selkirk Rex!! But this hasn't happened without the generosity and support of other Australian breeders. Lisa Peterson who started me on my chocolate journey! Both Pamela Lanigan and Merilyn Biddle have allowed me to use their British Shorthair imported genetics and have encouraged me and supported me to continue with my quest. My long time Mentors and fellow Selkirk breeders and friends Jennifer Rewell and Rebecca Kuss, who introduced me to this wonderful breed, are always there day and night for reassurance especially Bec, who still suffers through my girls labours with me. Thank You Girls so much for helping make this dream come true ###x
