There have been multiple cases of Parvovirus popping up around the Toowoomba Region! 😱

Please make sure your pet is up to date with their vaccinations and if you’re unsure of your pets vaccination status or you know they are overdue, please keep them isolated at home until they can be vaccinated. Parvovirus can remain in the environment for up to 9 years, and can be deadly to your pet! 😢

For more information, reach out to your local vet clinic! ☎️

🚨PSA🚨
As per the Toowoomba Councils latest communication, their after hours drop off facility will be closing from 28th February.
“Toowoomba Councils Animal Management Centre is open to accept lost or roaming animals that are found by residents between 9am and 4:30pm from Monday to Friday. Residents who find a dog without a council tag can choose to hold the animal at home if it is safe to do so and contact council on 131 872 during normal business hours to advise that they have privately impounded an animal and request collection.
Alternatively, residents can also access numerous social media sources to publicise a lost animal if it does not have its owners contact details on a collar” - Media release from Toowoomba Regional Council

Unfortunately due to safety reasons, Greencross Chandlers can no longer house or accept stray dogs, cats or litters of kittens. We are able to scan for a microchip however if there are no details attached to the microchip or the details are not up to date with the current owner, we have to refer the animal to the Toowoomba Animal Management Facility.
We apologise for any inconvenience and hope the public can assist us in reuniting lost pets with their families by contacting Toowoomba Animal Management or publishing to social media pages 🩷

🚨 Attention pet owners! 🚨 If your pet’s microchip is registered with HomeSafe ID, it’s time to act! With the registry shutting down, your pet’s chip will no longer be linked to your details. Meaning if they get lost, they may not find their way back to you.

Step 1: Check if your pet’s microchip is registered with HomeSafe ID. Visit www.petaddress.com.au (linked in the bio) and enter your pet’s microchip number.
Step 2: If your pet is registered with HomeSafe ID, transfer their details to another national microchip registry like Central Animal Records.
Step 3: Ensure your pet is always wearing a visible ID tag for extra safety.

This is especially important for pets adopted from the RSPCA 🐾💚

‼️ IMPORTANT UPDATE: PET MICROCHIPPING‼️
Microchip Pet Registry company, HomeSafeID, will soon cease to operate online.

What does this mean? 👇
If you know your pet is registered with HomeSafeID, you will need to change your microchip registration to another company 📝

If your pet's registration isn't updated, should they go missing or are found, vets/councils/animal shelters will no longer be able to view your pet’s ownership details listed on their microchip when it is scanned, making it difficult to reunite you!

ℹ️ Find out how to check your pet’s microchip and change to a new registry 👉 bit.ly/3Qe3ZbT

If you don’t know your pet’s microchip number or have lost their paperwork with their registration details, contact your veterinarian, council or animal shelter. They can scan your pet and provide the microchip number.

If you adopted a pet from RSPCA with a HomeSafe ID registry or had a microchip implanted at a RSPCA Community Day, while we cannot update your pet’s microchip details for you, we can help you find your adoptee’s microchip number and answer any questions you may have on 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625) or your local shelter.
