Cookies the 7wo goat presented to us after her owners found multiple ticks on her. We gave her some tick anti serum, and lots of cuddles before she went home to recover with her owners 😍

We are a small animal clinic, but if your large pet is small enough to fit inside then we are happy to see them! Plus we love snuggles if you haven't already noticed 😜

This is Clancy 🐾

This cheeky little boy decided that rat bait was a tasty treat to help himself to 😔

Luckily his owners were onto it straight away and brought him down for induced vomiting 🤮

If your pet eats rat bait, or you suspect they have eaten it, make sure you get them to the vet ASAP. Emesis is the best and cheapest way to treat rat bait, although you only have 3 hours after ingestion to induce vomiting.

If they ingest rat bait and you are not aware, their symptoms will start about 72 hours after they've eaten it. Symptoms include but are not limited to weakness, lethargy, blood in urine or faeces, pale gums and difficulty breathing.

Please make sure your rat bait is no where that your pets can get to it!!

When your pet presents with a tick, we will always recommend clipping them. This is because sometimes we need to clip them to even find the tick, and we also want to ensure that there are no ticks hiding anywhere else 🧐

If you want to avoid having your pet clipped, please ensure they are up to date with tick prevention. If you are unsure about what product is best for your pet please call us on 4602 0321 and we will be happy to discuss! Prevention is much safer than treatment.

Meet Zeus, can you guess what he has eaten 🙃

This is a common occurrence for dogs, maybe it's the edible size, or maybe it's the smell after being on their favourite persons feet all day 😝

They can lead to intestinal blockage that requires surgical intervention to remove, but luckily for Zeus his owners came straight to us so we were able to induce vomiting and avoid surgery.

Something tells me he's a repeat offender 😇

Billy the cat came to us for a workup as he was flat and vomiting at home. 🤢After performing X-ray and ultrasound we saw what looked like a small intestinal blockage.📸 Dr Dave took Billy to surgery and removed what looked like a peach seed from the small intestine. 🍑With the blockage resolved Billy should make a full recovery at home 🐱🏠

Dr Megan performed an emergency caesarean to safely deliver these three little angels! 🆘 After a few of hours in our incubator, nice and warm, they were able to go home with mum 😇

UPDATE 4.35PM - POWER IS BACK ON 🎉🎉

📢 WE CURRENTLY HAVE NO POWER 📢

Please be patient with us as we navigate this power outage. We currently only have 1 phone line working so if you have an emergency with your pet please come straight to clinic rather than waiting to speak to someone on the phone. We are unsure how long it will take to get power back on, so please be patient while we are waiting.

Ziggy 🤩

Ziggy was referred to our clinic for a urethral blockage and needed emergency surgery. Radiographs at his GP vet showed that he had a large stone stuck in his urethra and numerous stones accumulating in his bladder. Ziggy had a cystotomy to remove the stones and a perineal urethrostomy to ensure that any further stones cannot get lodged in his urethra and cause a blockage.

After a couple of days in hospital recovering and enjoying cuddles with the team he was able to go home and finish his recovery with his family. Ziggy will need to be on a special prescription food to help prevent stones forming in the future but thanks to his quick acting family he received speedy treatment for what can be a life threatening condition and we are glad to say he has made a full recovery.

Harley came into us with a pyometra (infection in the uterus) and had emergency surgery with Dr Dave and nurse Jasmin. 🤒

This is a life threatening condition if left untreated and affects nearly 25% of all non desexed female dogs. 🆘

Harley was a big gentle giant and spent her couple of days in hospital getting lots of love from our team. 💕

INTUSSUSCEPTION This is a serious condition in which part of the intestine telescopes into itself as you can see in this video. Most commonly we see this condition in puppies with causes such as an infestation of worms, a foreign body obstructing the intestines or giardia. It is an emergency, and can be fatal if left untreated. It is diagnosed via ultrasound and this pups ultrasound is attached in comments. You can see the two rows of intestines showing up like a target. This puppy went home after 3 days in hospital 😍🐶
