😻🙏 HELP NEEDED 🙏😻
Meet Hattie and her 8 newborn cherubs. Hattie and fam came into our shelter earlier this week from the Toowoomba Region Animal Management Centre.
Hattie requires a foster home where she can raise her cherubs to be big and strong! Fostering a mum with kittens really is about as easy as it gets. Mum does all the hard work by ensuring they are fed, toileted and cleaned for many weeks to come 😍 all she asks for in return is a safe, quiet and warm room to herself away from other pets in the home such as a laundry, spare room or spare bathroom until the bubs are a little stronger 💪
At RSPCA Toowoomba we get many, many mums and kittens come through each year but we don’t have enough foster homes to place them into which sadly means they have to stay in the shelter surrounded by other cats, lots of noise and infectious diseases 😞
How you can help:
✅ To prevent unwanted pregnancies please DESEX your pets!! Hattie would have much preferred not to be in this situation! https://operationwanted.com.au
✅ To help us with fostering pets in your home please see our website for more information where you can sign up to get started https://www.rspcaqld.org.au/volunteer/foster we’ll supply you with absolutely everything you need including food, litter, bedding, 24/7 support, vet care etc. All we need you to provide is the home, the care and transport to and from the shelter 🚗
Please share 🙏

Our wonderful volunteer Jess snapped this hilarious video of Zoro this week.

If you’re looking for a little kitchen or garden helper or perhaps a doggy you could train up to bring in the mail or pass you the TV remote our Zoro is very trainable!! Check him out ⬇️

🐶🥳 PLAY TIME 🥳🐶
Tangles and Jimmy enjoying some playtime on a sunny Wellcamp morning today 😍☀️
Play time is so important for our dogs so we can continue to work on their social skills! Without this you can imagine it would be very frustrating being housed near so many other dog smells and noises but never getting to interact with them so we do our best to get them out together as much as we can ❤️
Tangles and Jimmy were the perfect play date pair! They were having so much fun we couldn’t catch them again 🙊 Both of these babes are waiting for their fur-ever homes and they’re clearly open to living with pals 🐶🐶

UPDATE: ADOPTED! 🙏❤️
🩷😃 SMILES 😃🩷
Since it’s the first day back at work after the long weekend we’ve got no doubts you need a pick me up. Make sure you check out this video which is guaranteed to make you smile!! 😃
Meet Goldie, she is the ‘smiliest’ dog in the whole shelter! 💛
Read on for a lesson in doggy body language!
🙋🏻♀️ Isn’t a dog that shows us their teeth being aggressive?
This is a common assumption because in a lot of cases a dog baring their teeth is a sign of aggression and that they’re feeling uncomfortable and threatened. By showing you their teeth they are doing their best to warn you they’re not happy about something and if pushed they could bite. Aggression would be paired with tense body language, direct eye contact and possibly growling or snarling.
🙋🏻♀️ But that’s not the case here?
Absolutely not! Goldie is giving us a submissive grin. She uses this gesture to display she is not a threat and to show respect, friendliness, appreciation and excitement. It’s almost her saying ‘I come in peace’. Shes pairing this grin with lots of positive body language like a loose, wiggly body with a low tail wag, her ears are in a relaxed position and her eyes are nice and soft.
Dogs have a desire to please us so sometimes what begins as a submissive grin can become a learnt behaviour because we as humans have reinforced this with praise and attention because we think it’s cute. Goldie will probably always give you a smile as a greeting, it’s who she is 💛
🙋🏻♀️ Is this common behaviour?
It’s not so uncommon that it shocks us but we probably only see a small handful of dogs each year who display this behaviour regularly.
This girls personality is just gorgeous, she would make a beautiful family pet with a bit of a job to do too! Shes also friendly with other dogs. Don’t worry… if they speak dog too they know what her submissive grin means so there s
🖤🐈⬛ MAXINE 🖤 🐈⬛
🎶Maxine (who's that walking?)
You're not the only one

Now that we've got that song stuck in your head allow us to introduce MAXINE! 😍
She thinks she's taking the whole world on especially when she jumps up on your shoulders or when she climbs piled carboard boxes and tries to open door handles 🙊
Listen to her motor running in this video, isn't she just beautiful!?

🩵🩷 MUM AND SON 🩷🩵
Meet MC and Simba! This beautiful family duo have been together most of their lives and while it's not essential to their wellbeing we're really hoping we can find them a home together 🤞🏻🤞🏻
MC and Simba are all you could ever wish for in cats. They are completely litter trained, love a cuddle and a pat but remain fairly independent. They don't cause any bother and are happy lazing the day away. 💤 Simba particularly loves to snooze in our cat hammock which we have now named the 'Leaning Cat Tower of Wellcamp' because he's a little on the heavy side, not unlike his mum MC! 🙊
MC and Simba have always been indoor only cats so you won't have any problems with them staying indoors nice and safe. ✅
Check out this adorable video of them 😍😍
If you're interested in adopting one or both please submit an adoption application on our website, no need to do two separate ones just indicate that you're interested in adopting both of them! ⬇️

🥳🐶 PLAY DATES 🐶🥳
Meet Maggie and Baxter. These two are currently both searching for their own fur-ever homes at our centre 🏡 Maggie and Baxter didn’t know each other before both arriving here but they’re definitely getting along pretty well! 😍
Baxter the Staffy puppy has been at our centre a long time, he’s lived here for nearly 75% of his life which is not ideal for a young pup 😞 It’s important that we work on Baxter’s training and socialisation while he’s here. We were searching for an adult dog who can tolerate his play styles but also teach him about appropriate doggy play. As you can see he doesn’t lack confidence 🙊
Maggie the cool, calm and collected Staffy has been the perfect match for those play dates! She is energetic, tolerant but fair. She enjoys a frolic around in the grassy yards with young Baxter and this is great for her social skills and mental wellbeing too! ❤️
If you’re interested in adopting either of these social babes check out their online profiles for more information about them.

She definitely fits the bill for tongues out Tuesday 🙊 She’s been snoring all day too! 💤
Harlow has been waiting so patiently for a home. As you can see she’s a beautiful couch potato and would be a super low maintenance best friend!!

🫎🌟 A STAR IS BORN 🌟🫎
Moose is one of the smartest dogs we know!! 🐕
In this video you can see Moose trying his paws at some agility with one of our lovely Happy Paws Happy Hearts Foundation participants. Moose is a regular in the program because he is so gentle, patient, receptive of learning and everyone adores working with him! ❤️ He’s absolutely nailing walking over the tyres and we’re keen to see what other tricks he has up his doggy sleeves.
Would you believe that Moose has been waiting for a fur-ever home since August?! That’s a long time in dog years 😞
If you’re looking for a dog or another dog to add to your family please consider this gentleman! He is one smart cookie with so much love to give. All Moose wants is a home where he can make you happy ❤️

🐶🙊 HONOURABLE TAIL 🙊🐶
Sweet Trixie didn’t have the greatest life before she came to us but that’s all changed! We adore this update of her and the video made us giggle. We hope it does you too!! 😂
“Hey Guys!
After almost 2 months after adopting Trixie I just wanted to share with you how she has settled into a loving life!
We discovered that Trix was not a fan of water so we took it into our own hands and got her a little shell pool and encouraged her to play in, after a few attempts she got the hang of it and she now loveeeees playing and splashing in the pool! she loves going on car rides and going out to parks and out on long walks.
Sending Love from Trix! ❤️”
We hope by sharing these tails of honour it encourages you to adopt too!!! It really is one of the most honourable things you can do!
