Sweet natured pure standard Poodle Jaffa is finally learning to wag his tail, enjoy being stroked and scratched and is beginning to love his life with a smile, occasional tail wags and tender grateful kissy licks!
Sure, after a life of abuse, he still has some issues, but he has so much going for him and has come such a long way since I met this neglected, terrified boy 5 months ago.
He is terrific on a harness and leash and stays close if I allow him to play in off leash areas.
I have been able to clean his eyes and use scissors, so he can see better. But he is yet to be washed and groomed properly.
He accepts a muzzle and I can now get him in the car on my own if I move calmly and slowly.
He absolutely LOVES my dog Rainman and uses him as an emotional crutch, but needs to be supervised when greeting new dogs as he is still a little bit fearful. I do believe that moving on to a home with another dog (or a cat, he likes them too) would be the preferred option.
Even his toileting issues are slowly getting better...he has been starting to view the grass as a place to go, but still sees cement and floorboards as the preferred option, due to his 4 years in a cage as a stud dog. ( But it's nothing that a regular p**p scoop and hose can't fix)
He is a terrific guard dog with a loud alert bark and is vocal when people are walking past or come to the house. When kindly redirect he quietens down.
I am going overseas and he needs a new carer who can continue to show him kindness and understanding to continue his rehabilitation. Please call me if you thing you might be his person πΎπ
