🌿 Caring for Wildlife: What to Do If You Encounter an Injured Animal 🦉
While enjoying the beauty of nature, you may come across a wild animal in need of help. If you find an injured animal, remember: safety is the top priority—for both you and the animal. 🦊💚
🐾 Here’s what you should do:
Stay safe: Keep a safe distance. Wild animals can be frightened or in pain, and may react unpredictably. Never approach too closely.
Assess the situation: Is the animal visibly injured or in distress? If yes, it’s time to step in.
Transporting the animal: If you’re able to do so safely, carefully contain the animal in a box or secure container to transport it. Remember, handling it with gloves is best to avoid injury to both of you.
Bring it to a professional: Contact your local Surfcoast Wildlife Rescue group or the local vet clinic right away for advice and support.
⚠️ Important reminder: Do not attempt to feed, treat, or release the animal on your own. Wild animals need professional care to ensure their best chance at recovery and survival.
