🐾 Meet our furry friend, Bear!
This hilarious picture shows Bear patiently waiting in the car today because he’s recovering from kennel cough, which is a contagious virus. Even though he couldn’t come inside the clinic, he still got plenty of love (and treats!) right from his cosy spot outside💛

We’re dedicated to keeping every pet safe, healthy, and cared for no matter where they wait.
Get well soon, sweet Bear! 🐶✨

⚠️ GDV (Bloat) – A True Emergency ⚠️

Gastric Dilatation-Volvulus (GDV), often called bloat, is a life-threatening emergency — most common in large or deep-chested dogs, but it can (rarely) occur in cats too.

Why it happens:
The stomach fills with gas and twists, cutting off blood flow. This can occur after:
🍽️ Eating too much – like one of our staff dogs who broke into the food container and ate 2.2kg of biscuits!
🐾 Eating too quickly
🏃 Exercising right after a meal
😰 Stress or anxiety

🚨 Signs to watch for:

Swollen or tight belly
-Restlessness or pacing
-Unproductive retching (trying to vomit but nothing comes up)
-Drooling or panting
-Collapse or weakness

💥 What to do:
👉 Don’t wait! go straight to your vet or the nearest emergency clinic.
GDV requires urgent surgery to save your pet’s life.

⚠️ Certain breeds like Great Danes, Labradors, Setters, and Shepherds are more prone due to their deep chests.

If you ever suspect GDV, treat it as an emergency. Every minute counts. ⏱️

This sweet boy has been melting hearts around the clinic today 💛
Always calm, patient, and full of love. Wilson reminds us that the biggest dogs often have the softest souls.

Spring time is here and that means an influx of wildlife being brought in to vet clinics and carer homes around the state. Including the sweet little baby Ringtail Possum pictured, who was found without her mum laying on the ground in the sun.
Luckily, someone found her and brought her in to the clinic where she was assesed by one of our vets and given a drink of specially formulated possum milk.

If you find an orphaned or injured animal and are not sure what to do- call:
📞Our clinic on 5261 4137 or
