Grass Seed Season
These little pr$?ks can cause a great deal of pain & discomfort, so be sure to check your dog regularly 🌾
Messing about with Lew on a humid Sydney evening! 🏟
Many might find this hard to believe but we recently had to teach Lewis to swim 🏊
Yes you read that correctly, we had to teach a Golden Retriever to swim….that’s because breed largely doesn’t determine how a dog behaves #breedstereotype
We had assumed that Lewis simply preferred to paddle in the water and not get out of his depth…..kinda like his human (me!)…..but when encouraged a little deeper he clearly struggled to know what to do.
Here’s are his 3 progress videos (see comments) We kept the lessons short so as not to scare him too much, and swimming is quite a tiring exercise for dogs.
If you have older dogs, swimming is a great form of exercise as it takes weight of their joints…..but avoid over-exercising them and give them a rest period in between a few shorter sets of swimming, especially if they tend to hold their breath 🤪
Lewis doing his best ‘get off my lawn!’

Lewis’s ‘subtle’ attempt at trying to get me to make him some toast for breakfast 😂❤️🐶
It’s ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ at our place today! What a great time waster this little guy was.
Mum handed me his almost lifeless little body this morning and I didn’t hold out much hope. After warming his bones by the fire, and some much needed honey water, at the end of the day he was well enough to be released back into the wild.
This was his last meal before send off!

For those interested I think he is a fledgling New Holland Honeyeater
We heard a bit of a commotion outside this morning & this is what we found! 🐁🐶
.
While Nelly was just letting us know there was a mousey ‘intruder’, it could easily have been something more sinister......as we found out when Bounce alerted us to a snake in her kennel a few weeks ago.
.
It’s a very natural instinct for a dog to bark when things happen, to let the decision makers know there could be an issue and for us to then decide what to do about it. If a dog is confused about their role then this barking can become a nuisance.....and that’s where we can help!
❤️🐶
I think George instantly regretted his decision 🐴🐴🐶
