To my valued clients,

Given the recent flooding devastation we have had in Far North Queensland, you may have seen that people are rallying for donations to help those who have lost everything.

A very dear relative of mine is the heart and soul behind just one of these movements and is in desperate need of donations.

If anyone had anything at all to donate, could you please PM me and I can put you in touch with her.

Items for donation-

Monetary donations are welcomed as well along with direct donations from Feed 2 go (animal food)

As a flood victim myself in 2019 who lost everything, this pulls at my heart strings. If anyone is flood affected and needs assistance please contact me..

PLEASE BE AWARE

Cases of leptospirosis often increase following heavy rainfall and flooding events. As we continue to experience wet conditions across North Queensland, it is a timely reminder to be cautious of Leptospirosis.

Leptospirosis is spread from direct or indirect contact with the urine of an infected animal (such as rats, mice, pigs, horses and cows). People (or pets) can be exposed to urine through contaminated or muddy water, mud, soil or vegetation.

As with people, the risk of infection to pets can be reduced by preventing swimming, drinking or wading in floodwaters, and walking through mud from floodwater. It is therefore recommended, where ever possible, to keep your pet contained in a dry clean environment, provide clean fresh drinking water and monitor their activity when outside. We also strongly recommend ensuring that your pet is currently up-to-date with their vaccination.

Symptoms of leptospirosis in pets include:
- fever
- lethargy or reluctance to move
- loss of appetite
- excess drinking and urination
- vomiting
- diarrhoea
- respiratory difficulty
- jaundice (yellowing of eyes, gums, etc)

If your pet displays any of these symptoms, please seek urgent veterinary assistance.

If residents cannot leave safely, go to higher ground.

Water is rising fast and there will be dangerous and life-threatening flooding. Your life may be at risk.

If you do not leave it may become too dangerous for emergency services to rescue you.

Townsville Local Disaster Management Group Chair Andrew Robinson said residents must leave now.

โ€œResidents at Bluewater should evacuate immediately,โ€ Cr Robinson said.

โ€œDo not wait for further advice or emergency services to come to your door.

โ€œDo not stay in your home. If you do not have a safe place to go to, make your way to an evacuation centre immediately.โ€

Evacuation centres are open.

Bluewater Community Centre at 14 Forestry Road, Bluewater is open.

Heatley Secondary College at 321 Fulham Road, Heatley is open. Pets are not permitted.

Townsville Sports Precinct (Red Track) at 24 Burke Street, North Ward is open. Pets are permitted, but animals must be in portable carriers or crates large enough that they can stand, turn around and lie down. You must provide dog food, leashes, and water bowls.

If you have very young children, pack enough nappies for up to five days, wipes, bottles, formula or baby food. Plan to not have a fridge or microwave.

If you do not drive, call your support service, a family member or a friend to organise transport.

If itโ€™s flooded, forget it. Do not drive through flood waters.

To our valued clients,

As I'm sure you are aware, we are currently in a torrential rain event with the worst prediction yet to come. (We pray this isn't the case). As of 6pm yesterday an emergency alert by Townsville Local Disaster Management Group was issued and is still in effect. Given the advice is to stay off the roads if possible (non essential workers), remain at home or evacuate if unsafe, Townsville and Remote Pet Grooming will cease operation until safe to resume. We hope you are all staying safe and please remember your furry friends!
All clients will be contacted regarding Mondays appointments. We are aiming to be back up and running Tuesday.

Regards,
