Amplify Other Women.

Today is International Women’s Day. The day that we celebrate the inspirational women in our lives and our world… and those that are changing the world and blazing new paths for us to follow.

But how do we continue their great work? How do we change the equation, the inbuilt and often unconscious biases that accompany them?

1. Women must stop being competitive.
We have taught to be competitive because of the scarcity of resources at the top. It is so clear that this strategy does not work. It is only through collaboration that we can change the cultural and systemic hurdles that we face. We know that women are under-sponsored by senior men so let’s start collaborating and building each other up and changing the equation.

2. Share your strengths with the table.
Research has shown that women benefit from collaboration over competition and that women who support other women are more successful in business. We don’t have to do this alone, we were never meant to. Let’s share our lived experiences, sponsor and mentor each other and grow through sharing our unique and individual talents.

3. Amplify other women.
If you see a co-worker doing a great job – tell your boss or other co-workers! The Shine Theory says that by helping another woman rise, we all shine. Demonstrate your support as a team player and leader and show those around you how do the same.

4. Know your inner circle.
Who are the top five in your professional inner circle or team who you can rely on to go out of their way to make an introduction for you? Who actively want to see you succeed and achieve your very best? People who you can rely on to help not only boost your career but also your mental well-being. Who is on your Team?

Today is International Women’s Day. But let us celebrate the amazing, strong women in our lives – everyday. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them.

Leadership theory is so complex that many leadership courses struggle to define what it is exactly that makes a good leader… let alone how to apply this to a context that has pressures as unique as the Veterinary industry.

Research into effective leadership repeatedly finds commonality among central behaviours and competencies that we have then applied to the Veterinary industry. They are: Influence, Servitude, Authenticity, Adaptibility and Inclusive Leadership.

We have created short training modules around each of these pillars where we will work through the theory and research behind these behaviours as well as providing practical applications to the Veterinary industry so that you can confidently deploy these skills across any context or situation. Repeatedly and with confidence.

Each module also contains a leadership activity or questionnaire to help participants better and further understand their own leadership styles, strengths and areas for development as part of their own unique leadership plan.

These modules will help individuals develop the leadership language and skills to lead their teams and organisations with confidence and competence and to thrive and find sustainability within this rewarding profession.
