Hello everyone, I just wanted to share with you that I can accept any guinea pigs that you may need to rehome. 🐹☺️

I know at times it’s hard to find somewhere to surrender guinea pigs if your circumstances change suddenly or if you want peace of mind that your guinea pigs will continue to be well cared for once they leave your home.

All of my guinea pigs are fed chaff & fresh veggies/water daily. They live in multiple large enclosures & hutches which are moved twice a day & live a very comfortable life. 🐹

I may not be able to offer a permanent home for all the guinea pigs who are surrendered to me but I always ensure they go to well educated & loving homes.

I just thought i’d put this out there as I have had a couple of surrenders recently. ☺️🐹

🐹Bringing home Guinea Pig Pups for the First Time🐹

At this time of year lot’s of families decide to buy pets for they’re children which is a great idea. However, I think guinea pigs are thought of as quite a simple pet which in ways is true. However there are some things to take into consideration when adding some to your family. ☺️

1. Baby guinea pigs are very skittish & will be up until the age of about 1yr old. They are naturally a prey animal & when hands come in from the tops/sides of cages it can feel to them like we are a bird of prey. They will get used to this over time, but the best way to bond & tame your baby guinea pigs is to have a daily routine of handling them & feeding them some veggies while you pet them. This get’s them more familiar & comfortable with you. Some guinea pigs will take longer than others to warm up, consistency is key.

2. It’s normal for them to hide in the first 2 weeks. If you don’t see them eating or drinking that’s very normal while they settle into the new sounds, sights & smells of they’re new environment. If your concerned they’re not drinking water from a bottle/bowl just put some cucumber/tomato/watermelon or any high water content veggie as I promise they won’t be able to resist. As they become more familiar with they’re surroundings they’ll come out more.

3. Guinea pigs & especially pups are very playful animals. They are best kept in same s*x pairs. If you would like a trio or more, i’d highly recommend buying females as males when they mature become quite territorial & bonds can be broken easily if 3 or more males are housed in the same space. It’s possible to bond trio’s of males but more success comes from bonded male pairs.

4. They will require to have they’re nails trimmed about every 2-3 months as they do get very sharp. You can watch plenty of video’s on youtube of this & try yourself with a normal pair of nail clippers. Otherwise I offer pamper & am more than happy to clip your piggy’s nails too.

5. You can feed them pellets/chaff/veggies & hay. Pups under 8months of age can be fed lucerne hay but as it contains a high amount of calcium, it’s best to switch to a grass type hay such as oaten hay before the 8month mark. Some guinea pigs will take to certain hays/pellets/chaffs/veggies more than others & it’s all just trial & error. It’s good to switch the food you buy up for your piggies every now & then.

6. Love the process of bonding with your guinea pig pups, watching them grow & seeing how they’re little individual personalities develop 🥰

🎄Today I spread a little joy of Christmas & delivered some Christmas cards & goodies to a few local pet businesses who have very kindly recommended my small business to they’re patients & clients. Alot of my business is generated through word of mouth & I want to show appreciation of how much it means to me. 🥰🙏

I also want to say a huge thank you to all of my clients from the past 3 years, those retuning & who i’ve grown to know very well, the new families & people who have reached out to me. Too all of the families & work colleagues who have shared my business with they’re inner circles, i’ve heard of you & thank you. I am so grateful that so many people find comfort in me & I can share information on how to care for they’re guinea pigs so the families can get the best out of they’re guinea pigs & the guinea pigs can also have the best life. 🥰

Make sure coming into these hotter months you feed some refrigerated veggies to your guinea pigs, they’ll love you for it💗 It’s a great way for your guinea pigs to absorb extra nutrients & get hydrated with the water content from them.🥒

Taking Booking’s for Guinea Pig Sitting NOW 🐹

September Holiday’s 🚘

Located in Burdell, Townsville. I’ll make it known that I have 3 chihuahuas but I can assure you they are very friendly & won’t be near or harm your beloved pets. I can promise you your precious pigs will be given high quality care, attention & love while your away.

I have cages that will have bedding (oaten hay) & be ready for your guinea pigs to live in whilst they stay with me.

I will ask that YOU bring your Guinea pigs chaff/pellets/hay/veggies for me to feed them. You are more than welcome to write down their daily feeding routine for me to follow aswell.

A secure outdoor hutch is available too for free for them to use when the weather is great (they will be supervised at all times).

Your guinea pigs will receive; fresh water/food (fruit/veg/grass/pellets/hay) daily, regular changing of bedding, pats & cuddles with your permission. You will receive photos & updates of your guinea pigs a few days after drop off & a couple of days before collection ☺️

Fees are as follows;
$5.50 per day, per guinea pig.

Pamper’s available before collection;

Boars $16 each - bath, nail trim, ear wax clean, lice/mite/mange treatment, boar clean, grease gland clean, coconut oil rub.

Sow’s $11 each - bath, nail trim, ear wax clean, lice/mite/mange treatment, coconut oil rub.

(If you have a long haired breed of guinea pig it will be an additional $10 each gender for an overall hair cut too)

I will ask that payment be made via bank transfer by the night before drop off at the latest please. This is a must otherwise I cannot sit your piggies. I’m happy to receive cash on drop off but it must be agreed & discussed before hand.

Please let me know in the booking you want to make, how old your guinea pigs are & if they have any medical issues/medication. I will ask that your run that through with me & write it down before your piggies are dropped off.

If for any reason I feel I need to take your fur baby to the vet you will be contacted immediately & will be required to cover the cost.
