Saradale Border Collies

Saradale Border Collies Saradale is a registered prefix with the Canine Control Council (Dogs QLD). Here at Saradale, I pride myself on owning and raising versityle Border Collies.

My dogs are much loved family pets and are a huge part of my everyday life. We are situated on 23acres of pure paradise at Cape Cleveland, south of Townsville where dogs are allowed to be dogs. Here the gang enjoys country living with full range of the property and their own private dam which they frequent daily. My puppies are bought up in a family environment ensuring they are well rounded and s

ocialised for their new owners. Saradale dogs make for fantastic companion animals, as well as serious competitors in agility, obedience, canine disc, flyball and the conformation show ring. Through my selective breeding, my dogs have not lost their natural "eye" and instinct for stockwork. Saradale Border Collies come in an array of colours, but temperament and soundness are at the forefront of my breeding program.

The decision to go to the BC Nationals was an easy one. Choosing which dogs to bring and what classes to enter was decidedly more difficult!!
Sadly Miss Mallory will not be joining Team Saradale at the Nationals… maybe next time!

Miss Piper is looking for a comfortable couch to retire to and call her own!! She is a healthy 8yr old, desexed girl. She still enjoys going out for a walk, but will not tear the yard up if she misses a couple of days. She’s a well behaved, obedient girl who would enjoy the company of a desexed male or would be equally as happy being an only dog. She is not suitable for a family with female dogs. Piper loves kids and is good around cats.
If you think Piper might be the perfect fit for your household, send me a message. 🐾

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for all your entries!

It has been wonderful, and we appreciate the support.

We look forward to seeing you all in Queensland in a few weeks!

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the amazing team that has worked so hard behind the scenes to get the National to this point.

It’s been a while between dog shows for us.
Nothing like the hype of a National Specialty show to get me back in the mood!!
Hopefully I remember how to run 😂
Lucky all eyes will be on the dogs, like handsome Boss here… well, mostly anyways!! 😂😂

Cracka is really hitting his training goals!
We’re working on remaining focused in areas with more distractions and building duration in our stays.
He’s going nicely for 10months of age 🐾

28/07/2024

I’m looking for two extra sets of hands (and legs) who would be happy to help run dogs at the Border Collie Nationals in the Sire and Progeny class.
Please and thank you 🙏

I’ve had a few questions around crate training after posting yesterday photo of Eris and Eddison in their crates.
Here are some key tips to increase your success with crate training.

1. *Introduce the crate gradually*: Start by leaving the crate door open, making it a comfortable space for your pets to enter voluntarily.
2. *Make it a safe space*: Add familiar toys, blankets, and treats to make the crate feel secure and cozy.
3. *Establish a routine*: Use the crate at regular times, like during meals or sleep, to help your pets adjust.
4. *Increase crate time gradually*: Start with short periods and gradually extend the duration.
5. *Provide regular breaks*: Give your pets plenty of opportunities to exercise, play, and stretch outside the crate.
6. *Be patient*: Crate training can take time, so be consistent and patient with your pets.
7. *Monitor progress*: Adjust your approach as needed, and reward good behavior!

Remember, crate training is a great way to help with housetraining, reduce separation anxiety, and prevent destructive behavior.

Saradale welcomes two lovely new faces to the team!
Eris (merle) and Eddison (red) have been selected for their outstanding temperament and attitude towards training.
They are the first of hopefully a number of future Saradale Border Collies who will grow up to play a very important role within the community.
You can follow their journey on my page and I will go into more detail over the coming months as to what jobs and tasks these very special boys will be performing.
