Scallywags has kicked off again for 2025. With our most recent class just graduating during the week. Well done to Pearl the staffie, Willow the Lab and Roman the Border Collie on completing the course. They all learnt some helpful skills including scratch board nail trims, back up, touch and all improved on their loose leash walking despite the bad weather and much more. Willow took out our winner of the competition showing enthusiasm to learn new things. But a very hard class to pick the winner as they all improved and learnt a lot during their time at scallywags. Interrupting your Thursday with some cuteness! 5 little graduates got their bandanas on Tuesday, and though I’m sad I won’t get to hang out with them anymore, I’m so proud of what wonderful puppies they are growing into! Join me in congratulating our most recent puppy preschool students.

And we're back! Our puppy school is off with a bang for 2025, with 10 little graduates earning their bandanas this week. I got to know some *adorable* puppies in this course and was lucky enough to have some previous attendees come along again with their new additions! As always scroll through to meet the students.

From tomorrow night Townsville will have a second 24 hour emergency service open and ready to help you and your pets when we're closed. NQ Care are located at 232 Woolcock Street, Currajong and can be contacted on 4457 2000. JCU Vet are still available for emergencies too on 4781 3600 and we are so grateful that they have been there for you and us over the years and will continue to be.
We will be working with both services, so wherever you choose to go please rest assured you'll be well cared for and we'll be ready to take over again during our normal clinic hours.

So many of you know this face! Some of you know Teegin very well - she's looked after you and your very loved pets for many years. She's been there at the start, through the joy and the worry and the ups and downs of having pets in your life. She's celebrated them and she's helped you honour them. Those who don't know Teegin well will still have experienced her care, her concern and her drive to do her best for you, every time you visited the clinic. Maybe you didn't know her name, but you were cared for equally. After 15 years and 7 months Teegin is working her last shift with us tomorrow. We will miss her dedication, her friendship, her sense of humour and her love of all that walk through our doors. We won't miss the toilet roll hanging the wrong way, but we gave up on trying to fix that part of her. Old dogs can learn new tricks, just not that one.
Thank you Teegin, for many very wonderful years. You are always part of the Western Suburbs family. ❤

🐕 STRAY DOGS UPDATE
We're having maintenance work in our large dog kennels this afternoon and on Thursday and are unable to accept stray dogs. Please contact council for assistance or call us for other options.

This week concludes puppy preschool for 2024, so please join me in congratulating Tuesday and Thursday’s graduates! Our very last class was held during a thunderstorm and I’m relieved to say that the puppies were having too much fun to worry about the thunder, and even competed in the noise contest!
Thank you to Sironae Crafts for our bandanas and game meats for our treats this year. And lastly, a huge thank you to each and every puppy family for a wonderful year filled with adorable babies. Can you spot your pup?
