These good girls are Gracie and Rosie and they would like to spread awareness about quick release collars to other dog families.
Last night the girls were up to their usual antics and playful games when Rosie's jaw got caught in Gracie's collar. Rosie twisted and pulled and pushed to try to get free, getting her front leg stuck and her jaw twisted in the collar. Gracie struggled to breathe and was unable to get away as Rosie rolled and pushed at her. Fortunately their family noticed a change in their usual playful sounds and ran to their aid. The quick actions to hold the dogs still while someone fetched the scissors no doubt saved the life of if not one, but both the dogs.
Quick release collars are designed to snap open whenever there is tension on the collar. If you leave your dogs unattended with collars on, we recommend investing in a quick release collar to help prevent devastating accidents.
Gracie has some bruising and swelling around her eyes and Rosie has some bruises and abrasions in her mouth, but otherwise these two girls came away relatively unscathed and remain the best of friends. They were the goodest girls today for their check with Dr Kerrie.
