I am posting to ask if any of you or local families you know, would be interested in extended dog sitting?

We are actually travelling this year (meant to be leaving in two weeks) and had a family lined up who were going to temporarily adopt our Groodle Nahla into their home. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, this now isn’t an option.

Below is a little about Nahla and our trip.

Thank you so much.

Sascha

**************

Our beautiful Groodle Nahla needs a temporary home while we do a 12 month trip of Australia.

PLEASE SHARE THIS POST TO HELP US FIND THE PERFECT FAMILY.

Nahla is our 5 year old Groodle. She is a well loved member of our family and at the end of day, will take herself off to bed with the children. Originally an outdoor dog, she is predominantly indoors now. She is happy in a calm home, but also loves visitors and does well in a high energy environment. Nahla has lived with our four young children since she was a puppy and although a big dog, she is extremely gentle, never aggressive and is well socialised with both children and other dogs. She is not a barker.

Nahla is intelligent, fully house trained, lead trained and knows how to sit, stay, lay and shake hands. She responds well to treats and training. While she loves being played with and going for walks, she has a beautiful temperament and will happily opt to just be by your side. She’s desexed, fully vaccinated and with no health issues.

We are looking for a temporary adoption while we are away this year. She would love being with a family whose children can play with and spoil her with love, or someone with spare time looking for company. Grooming, Vet and Food paid for.

To find out more, please send me a message.

Thank you 🐾

Did you know.....?
Dogs can suffer from Dementia.
The following information is provided by North Nowra Veterinary clinic.

DEMENTIA IN DOGS
Do you have an older pet that paces around the house, barks when there is no one there, stares at walls or has trouble sleeping at night?
Just like humans, dogs can experience degenerative cognitive dysfunction, commonly known as Canine Dementia. Over time you will notice changes in responsiveness, disorientation, reduced memory and learning and changes in sleeping patterns.

CAUSES
Although incompletely understood, the brain changes seen in dogs with cognitive dysfunction is similar to that of humans with Alzheimer’s Disease. There are physical changes in the brain including loss of neurons and development of amyloid plaques, but also a change in the chemicals of the brain responsible for getting rid of free-radicals.
We don’t know why one dog may develop dementia and others don’t, but genetic factors have been suggested.

SYMPTOMS
Disorientation
Confusion
Extreme irritability
Decreased desire to play
Excessive licking
Slow to move
Loss of appetite
Changes in sleep
Pacing around
Anxiousness
Barking for no reason
Doesn’t respond to voice commands
Loss of house training

DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT
Your veterinarian will need to gather a thorough history of your pet’s behaviour, including the onset and nature of the symptoms. As canine cognitive dysfuntion is a diagnosis by exclusion, your vet may want to run routine tests to make sure your pet isn’t suffering from another illness or disease.

Although there is no cure for canine cognitive dysfunction, your vet can prescribe medications that may assist in relieving the symptoms of dementia and help your pet gain back some of their daily activities.
