Bad filming but wanted to share…..Rusty grew up with Mitzy our Maltese Sh*tzhu and loves little dogs. Sophie had been attacked by a dog and was scared of Rusty. But Rusty being Rusty, he kept trying to be her friend 🩷 today it clicked in little Sophie’s head that he is ok. So a short pounce and play, and then Rusty chewed her toy haha

A few days ago we got a silver scrunchie in an advent calendar. Something we won’t use, so I put it by the calendar and was going to give it away.
Roll on to yesterday when Rusty had his second physio session 👏🏻 His homework has helped develop muscle again. It may not change anything, but at least we will keep him stronger for longer, and an improved quality of life down the track. He had a really big knot in a
shoulder muscle so that was corrected also. Reassuring we are on the right track.

Well towards the end of the session Gina asked if I had a scrunchie we could use for Rusty? So our silver scrunchie has a purpose after all - to help Rusty have awareness of his left hind leg which is much weaker than his right.

And the best part,,,,,he added some dazzle to the bush today for part of his walk ⭐️💎✨😎

We weren’t going to post this yet so we could grieve quietly…..but here we go.

10 days ago Ruby started limping. X-rays were taken Tuesday after Prednisone made no difference, same with Palexia. Vet was pretty sure it was osteosarcoma 😭

Today we saw an Oncologist to discuss options and pain control. It was confirmed our beautiful girl has cancer, and 80% chance it is Osteosarcoma. After weighing everything up, and putting her first, she was put to sleep. The specialist and staff at Perth Veterinary Specialists were so compassionate and giving, as were the staff and Steve Metcalfe of Applecross Vet Hospital. She grew her wings this afternoon, passing very peacefully, and is no longer in pain.

She was such a beautiful girl, in looks and spirit. She loved us, and had a few dog friends that were special- other than Rusty, Kai the dog next door and Bun and Ferris our trainers dogs The Holistic Hound Dog Training. Unfortunately Bun is also no longer with us.

We got Ruby just before she turned 1. She went to Dobe training for a bit, Scent work, exercise class, Hoopers, and training with Lorri. She was such a good girl she became a helper dog. She loved chasing seagulls at the beach-and she was quick! She also enjoyed devouring rabbits she caught, and chasing anything that breathes and moves on our block 🤣

She travelled with us and has been to so many places and seen and smelt so many things. She even went on a paddle steamer in Echuca. Her favourite place was always the beach

She was super smart, super loving, and super quick to slap you with her paw when you stopped patting her. She loved us and trusted me when asking her to do something she wasn’t sure of. Mostly she loved food 🩷

When you totally rip out a nail, and it’s very sore, inspite of the pain meds for Wobblers.

Can only think he trapped it in some rocks as he doesn’t move that fast now . We didn’t hear a yelp and only became aware when we noticed the path and garage floor with blood footprints everywhere 🥹 he also had a few grazes on other legs so expect he fell 😭

Bit hard for him to walk with wobbly back legs, and now this (outside nail on his front left leg) He is feeling a bit sorry for himself so he is spending the day lounging, and getting extra treats and cuddles too 🙏

Fortunately all ok 👌 will heal on its own without intervention.

Look at his happy smile 🥰 today he woke up feeling good after resting during the last few rainy days, so we toddled off to training with to catch up with our friends 🤣👌super good boy of course 👨🏻‍🎓🤗 and he had so much fun 🥰🩷 sometimes you wouldn’t know he has wobblers- I think partially because he has such a big heart ❤️ he is now sleeping 💤

Last day before we get home tomorrow morning 🩷 we have had a great journey but now look forward to home. Heading out is so much fun, and filled with anticipation, yet when we round the bend for home, it suddenly makes everything else fade.

Dobes are happy being at Meckering where they can stretch their legs on sand and have a bit of a run. But when we get home, they will have to re-examine every metre of our block and see how many Roos, rabbits, echidnas, lizards etc have paid a visit 🦘🐇🦔🦎

They have been so so good and have loved exploring with us 🩷

Today was all about Gwalia. This is a mining town just out of Leonora. So much history. It is mostly a ghost town now. The mine is still working today. There are old miners cottages, and a guest house you can walk through. These have been preserved for the future. Then there is the museum and coffee shop on the hill. Lovely green grass for the dobes outside the shop. It was all dog friendly so they were even allowed inside the museum which was good. It climbed up to 29 degrees but felt much hotter out there. Dobes loved exploring and the pats that came were the bestest.

Tomorrow we start heading for home 🩷

Today was a big day of sightseeing. We started at Lake Ballard and the sculptures, Snake Hill, then the Menzies Cemetery and the town of Menzies. So much history.

Lake Ballard was pretty cool, but at 27degrees it was hot, so we didn’t hang around for hours.

Snake Hill gave great views over Lake Ballard.

The cemetery was sobering! So many dying of typhoid. A few children and babies, and then a lot of young adults up to midlife. Over 50 was rare.

Still, we had a good look around, and the dobes are now exhausted haha

When the dobes have the last serve of their yoghurt 🤣 Ruby licks the lid…….and this is Rusty 😋🤤

My favourite little man went to training this morning for the first time in ages. He was such a good boy 🩷👌🙌🥰 and he was so excited. We had to leave a bit early as his legs were starting to get super tired, but worth it even in 7 degrees Celsius to see his huge smile ❤️

We may not sell fish skins anymore, but we do make them for Rusty and Ruby 🩷It would break their hearts if we stopped, and they would make our life hard 🤣 Routine in the van when away is the same as home. Fortunately there are no vans near us to get sick of Rusty’s foot thumping 🙊🙈😝

Another trip to the beach today 🩷 dobes love it - especially I think because our ground is so hard at home 😢 We then went and looked at Sanford House and a few other historic buildings/industry in the area, including convict workers, and whaling. All were tired when we got home 👌 Full photos on our insta page.

First full day in Port Gregory 🩷 first time at the beach for Rusty and Ruby 👌 it’s a lo g beach and the seagulls came out for Ruby 👏🏻 it’s a very quiet town with a population of 80 when it’s not a long weekend. Nothing g to do but relax 😎🏖️🌊
