Rusty had a vet check yesterday, and our vet was happy with where we are at 👏🏻 considering where he was on his birthday.
Then it was coffee time, so Rusty had a puppacchino from Kwik Koffee😋🤤
He is the bestest boy 🩷🥰we are still living one day at a time, but it’s been 8 weeks since this started. We thought we had days 🥹 and it can change any moment, so we are grateful for every day, every cuddle, every laugh, every wet sloppy kiss 👅
But we had a crisis Tuesday which we are sharing, in the hope it may be helpful for anyone that may have to walk this awful journey.
We went to get Rusty to come in around 5pm as he just wants to be outside as much as possible. He didn’t come to us which is unusual.
For those that don’t know, we live on 4.5acres on a bush block. He has run of around 3 acres.
So after loud whistles, walking to his favourite sleeping spots, calling him etc, we couldn’t find him. It was getting dark by then so we put our boots on, grabbed torches, and went out to do a grid search to find him, thinking it was a recovery mission at this point.
We started at one end of our bush, and walked, calling him calmly, listening for rustling bushes etc.
Nothing at first so we kept going. It was freezing cold but fortunately Rusty had his pjs on 🙌
After what felt like forever, Rusty just appeared and came up to us. He was subdued but ok so we got him inside and warmed him and he got smothered with kisses 😚
Talking to the vet about this, it is likely he had a heart crisis of some sort, causing him to faint or lose consciousness 😱 Fortunately he came out of it. So grateful.
AirTags are on order so we can attach this to his collar and be able to track him if we can’t find him. Until then he is wearing his e collar- as it has a light on it and we can use the tone to try to find him if need be. He loves living here and the freedom to sniff, eat 🐇💩
and the different places he can lay to sunbake or keep cool. We won’t confine him.
Late yesterday, he chased a 🐰 flat out across the block, back legs flailing behind but having the time of his life! He is making the most of it, and so are we!
