The glaucous macaw is so rare it is considered extinct. Except for the gray head, they are very similar in size and coloring to the critically endangered lears macaw. Their natural range was the southeast coast of South America, but the last sighting of a glaucous macaw in the wild was in 1936. A very small number of exist in captivity at present. ~Patty
