Introducing 'Wildlife Medicine for Veterinary Professionals: General Practice Treatment Handbook for Wildlife in Western Australia.’ This Handbook includes information on identification, species clinical overviews, triage, first aid, treatment plans for common conditions, diagnostics information, formularies and case studies, designed for treating wildlife cases in general practice.
Late last year, our team worked extremely hard to put together a 310-page Handbook for veterinary professionals detailing how to manage wildlife cases in general practice veterinary clinics. Based on feedback provided by veterinary professionals undertaking our recent training program 'Wildlife Medicine for Veterinary Professionals' sponsored by WWF-Australia, this handbook was created to provide a practical and easy to reference guide for wildlife case management to help both the wildlife and the dedicated veterinary professionals who are tasked with providing initial care.
Thanks to sponsorship from WWF-Australia, fifty copies of the Handbook were made available free of charge and distributed to veterinary clinics all across Western Australia. A hardback option was since opted for in future publications to ensure longevity on shelves in general practice. Content will also be available as an e-book at a later date.
We are now accepting pre orders, with the launch and shipping expected late February!
These hardback 310-page Handbooks are currently for sale for $230 including postage within Australia. A small booking fee may also be applied.
We are optimistic that this Handbook will make wildlife medicine more accessible in Western Australia and help alleviate a lot of the challenges faced by veterinary professionals when presented with wildlife patients.
All proceeds from book sales go directly back into wildlife treatment and conservation, with part proceeds directed towards WWF-Australia, and the remainder towards veterinary care of wildlife at the WA Wildlife Hospital.
