Itā€™s been a tough 24hrs for our beautiful Summer
Summer went into preterm labour yesterday, 6 days before her due date (dogs only have a 9 week gestation so this is significantly early!)
Summer went out happily to toilet and stretch her legs with her friends but Lili let us know that Summer needed help. Clever Lili jumped the fence and barked furiously! We found Summer bleeding but still happily wagging her tail.
She delivered 2 stillborn pups on the way to have a scan to check on the pups. Fortunately the other pups had normal heart rates so we left the other pups to try to give them some maturity.
Summer has whelped 2 lovely healthy pups this morning. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the remaining pups still to whelp will also be healthy. We have one boy and one girl. Being early they needed a little help with their breathing after birth but are now feeding well and are warm and strong.

Brie and Ragna arenā€™t usually in together but they are making friends this morning. Ragna is almost better after a recent infection. Brie is on heat. A bit of ā€˜bitey faceā€™ to make friends!

A quick scan to check on Summerā€™s babies today. Everyone very active! A bit hard to hold the phone and scan at the same time to show our families the beautiful developing litter but you can see that we have a nice number of pups! Litter due early January. 6 years ago Pizsi (Zoldmali Pizsi) whelped a very special litter. Sire was Kazal (Zoldmali Kazal). Her beautiful babies included Immi, Freya and Freddie. Happy Birthday! šŸ„³šŸŽ‚

Fearghus loves his sweets! Thereā€™s no limit to his treats now so he got a whole sponge cake to himself for afternoon tea. Despite his size he is quite a dainty eater! He licked all of the icing sugar off first, then the cream, and finally the cake! Snapper and Forrest enjoyed the crumbs! The big boy can have whatever he wants ā¤ļøšŸ° Thatā€™s Rufus barking in the background!!!

After a big run and play the pups have come indoors for a rest. They are having a nice chew on some dried shark cartilage to relax before settling for a nap. The Wirehaired pups all have homes. The beautiful black Iggie pup (Panther) is still available!

We have imported champion dogs in show and work as well as semen from some of the elite kennels around the world and are committed to increasing the genetic diversity of each breed in Australia.
