Let's talk about this photo.

It's cute, except it's not.
I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off.
How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:

#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.

#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---

#3: We do not climb on the dog.

#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.

#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.

#6: We do not touch the dog's food.

#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

In conclusion,

Parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.

☀️The weather is warming up fast now, below are a few tips to protect your pets in the heat.

🌡 Never leave dogs in hot cars, conservatories, outbuildings or caravans on a warm day (even if only for a short while). When it's 22°C outside, temperatures can quickly rise to 47°C (117°F) in these environments, which can be fatal.

🌡 Use pet-safe sun cream on exposed parts of your pet's skin, such as the tips of their ears and nose, to avoid sunburn. This is especially important if your dog has white or light-coloured fur, as they can be very vulnerable to getting burnt. If you're unsure which is the right product to use, please ask your vet.

🌡 Ensure pets always have access to shade and fresh drinking water to help keep them cool.

🌡 Check every day for flystrike - this can be fatal.

🌡 Put ice cubes into your dog's water bowl or make some tasty ice cube treats. You could also freeze a kong with treats and water!

🌡Give your pet damp towels to lie on (never place a damp towel over your dog as this can trap in heat) or an ice pack wrapped in a towel. Both simple methods could provide welcome relief from the heat

🌡 If you're planning a day out with your dog, check before leaving home whether dogs are allowed. If they're not, arrange a pet-sitter or choose another, dog-friendly attraction.

🌡 Groom them regularly - regular grooming in warmer weather can help brush away any dead or excess hair, leaving your dog with a less dense coat - much better for staying cool!

🌡 Dogs may also appreciate a paddling pool to splash around in, although not all dogs like water, so there's no need to force them if they don't want to! These can be bought at Bunnings, Big W etc for around $15 each.

Remember to keep your pet inside or a cool shady area with plenty of access to fresh water as the temperature rises, avoid walking during the hotter parts of the day preferably early morning or late evening walks are best and check the pavement to avoid paw burns.

We can’t believe we have to keep reminding people, but here we are again.

STOP. LEAVING. PETS. AND. KIDS. IN. CARS. ON. HOT. DAYS.

Earlier this week while out on patrol, members from the Melbourne Bicycle Unit were called to a shopping complex in the Docklands to assist a dog that had been locked in a parked car.

Riding up to the distressing scene, the dog was thrilled with their arrival. However, police were unable to locate the owner of the car. After speaking with security staff, it came to light the dog had been in the car for two hours (!!), with no water or food.
Multiple attempts and announcements for the owner to return were made with no contact, leaving the officers with no choice.

With help from South Melbourne Fire Brigade, police were able to gain entry to the car and save the little pup before the heat got to him.

The owner of the poor pooch will be fined $462 for leaving an animal unattended in a vehicle on a hot day, in addition to the cost of a new window for their car.

Great work to the members who saved this puppy’s life. 🐕

This wonderful old duck had a pamper session with My Groomer Professional Dog Grooming, getting rid of all her dead coat.

The oldies can tend to retain their coat a bit more, plus do suffer in the heat more easily.

In addition, Pen has always had a very fine, fluffy undercoat which is very hard to extract efficiently.

My retired Left Hand Lady is now much more comfortable, generally, but also summer bod ready.

How very 😢 sad, run free little man❤️🌈

It’s hard to find the right words for this post.

This morning at 11.35, Oscar left us.

Almost a year ago, we shared that with his deteriorating health, the vet thought he only had a few days to live.

But ever the fighter – he pushed on, and made it to his sweet 16th only a few months ago.

This morning he let Deb know it was time, and he was able to go peacefully in her arms.

Oscar was a dog that started a movement. He changed and saved lives. It’s hard to comprehend the enormous impact that one little dog could have.

He was an icon and a hero – but most of all, he was Deb’s best friend.

We will have more to say about Oscar, his life and all he achieved soon – but for now, Deb needs time to process and grieve. We still can’t quite believe he’s gone.

Rest in peace, Oscar.

its all about the dog

I’ve been a dog groomer for 22 years, I started out as a bather in a salon and worked my up to have my own business. I have groomed in and owned a salon and now in a new adventure that comes with being mobile.

At My Groomer the dog comes first, we pride ourselves in having a safe and relaxed environment for your furry family member to enjoy their pampering. we don't rush grooms, grooming is done at the dogs pace, if it takes a little longer to make sure the dog is happy then that's what happens. we have no time limit.

We also aim to meet the clients expectations with what they are wanting their dog to look like, but have a strict policy that the dogs welfare comes before vanity.

If you would like your pooch to experience the difference a visit from My Groomer Professional Dog Grooming makes then book their pampering visit today.
