Anthony Cosgriff Racing is based at Ballarat Turf Club's world class facilities. We have saddled winnners from 975m to 4800m, in Australia and the UK.

Anthony Cosgriff has worked with top class racehorses all over the world, from Perth to New Zealand, Kentucky to North Yorkshire. As is common with some of Europe’s top trainers he is a fully qualified and experienced equine veterinarian. Since Anthony Cosgriff Racing started we have worked hard to bring all this experience to bear on horses who have often been unwanted rejects from other stables.
With our very horse-friendly country environment and 24-hour hands-on care we have achieved some real triumphs along the way. We feel very lucky to have some terrific owners and we aim to repay their faith in us by constant communication as well as winners. After a hiatus of nearly 10 weeks between runners it was great to see our two 3yos step out and jump straight into form today. Attaboom stuck on gamely for 2nd from the front, while Benny Chips In warmed right into his work to sn**ch 3rd on the line.

There have been a lot of tributes paid to Lonhro since his sad demise and while we have never been lucky enough to train one of his progeny we have purchased two yearlings out of Lonhro mares who went on to between them win 10 races and return many times their purchase price. So Lonhro was certainly a favourite of ours and hopefully our success with his grandchildren is not finished yet!

Our beautiful Doubtland filly has arrived home from the breakers in great order and is about to have a couple of weeks getting used to a busy training track before she has a well-earned break. Everyone who works with this girl rapidly falls in love with her and it's not hard to see why! Just a few shares remain.

Our final Adelaide purchase was this lovely-moving filly by blueblood Group 1 sire Astern out of Before The Present, an unraced Hussonet mare who is half sister to successful sire Domesday and whose previous two fillies to race are both city performed and won 5 races and 300k between them. Not a lot of guesswork when the mare keeps throwing fillies like this! (The mare's last yearling through the sales brought $250K at Premier 2022!)
As with our other two Adelaide purchases this filly is all clear on xray and scope, athletic, sensible and represents quality bloodstock anyone can afford.

Congratulations to the owners of stable favourite Reynaire after his gutsy win at Werribee, storming through late under an absolute gun ride from Neil Farley. The son of Nostradamus, bought last year by Anthony for just $2500, has now won $60,000 in prizemoney with us as well as picking up $30,000 in Vobis Sires vouchers today. If anything could brighten up a very rainy day, it was Chanchos' victory yesterday at Balnarring under a very well-judged Jack Virgona ride. This was the first picnic victory for the colours of our much-missed Rohan, at a track where Ro loved strapping winners, and ridden by his favourite hoop.

Fantastic to see Reynaire, horrendously unlucky at his last two starts, make up for it today by bolting up over 1200m at St Arnaud under apprentice Ryan Houston. Bought in January for just $2500, the athletic son of Nostradamus has now won $27000 in prizemoney with us for his terrific group of owners.

What a gutsy effort from 3yo Attaboom yesterday, holding on for 2nd after working early over 1400m on the Ballarat synthetic, earning $7 grand prizemoney for connections. He clearly goes well for young gun Will Price, who has now ridden Attaboom twice for two placings. Well done to punters who were on board at the (ridiculous) $10 the place!

Only one yearling remains unsold from our class of '23! This Castelvecchio c**t ticks so many boxes: Dam a Group winner, sire a multiple Group 1 winner, half brother a Group winner. Correct and athletic. Only a few shares remain.

Just devastated by the news about Dean Holland: a superb horseman and a fantastic guy. His post-race interview after winning the Group 1 Newmarket with a late pick-up ride was the classiest interview by a jockey I've ever heard and shows the calibre of person he was.
Heart-felt condolences to all his family especially Darren, Belinda, Lucy and their children.

On Grand National Day we can't help but look back with some pride (and amazement) on the day our own Gorge became the only Australian horse this century to run on the biggest jumps racing day in the world, finishing a respectable midfield in the race after the Grand National itself under regular rider Josh Hamer.

Impressive 3yo Who Are Those Guys has come back into work looking a treat and we are hoping he can build on the promise of his last campaign.
