This weekend will be full of festivities and fireworks. Unfortunately, we see a large increase in the number of lost dogs due to fright and anxiety, escaping while fireworks are on during New Years Eve.
Its important to have your pet safe and secured, ensure that their microchip details are updated with the correct details, that they have a collar on with your contact info on to make it easier to be re-united in the event that they do escape. Thank you to our lovely clients for your patience over the last couple days - we have had multiple emergencies each day in addition to our busy orthopaedic surgery list, routine surgery list, after hours emergencies, breeding services including planned caesareans and whelping (6 litters in 2 days). This has meant that we have had all our vets between consults/emergency/surgery resulting in changes to the vet you may have booked in with or there has been a slight wait.
Well done to our amazing team of vets, nurses and receptionists who have been working like a dream team to ensure everything still runs smoothly.

Busy orthopaedic surgery day means….. yummy lunch to keep the team going thanks to Tennilles-platters!

A huge shout out to Nissen Street Vet Surgery and all their staff!
My poor snake Sammy was looking terrible this morning, swollen and not breathing right. Thankfully they were able to get me in with such short notice to see to him. Their care was impeccable! Finding a reptile vet is hard work!!

My boy is now on the mend, with a burst abscess in his mouth and a bacterial infection. 😥 So glad I was able to get him seen to quickly.

Pet insurance is important for pet owners to help provide peace of mind, ensure the health and well-being of your pets, and alleviate the financial burden of unexpected veterinary expenses.
No only does it help in emergency situations but it also provides access to quality care by allowing you can make medical decisions for your pet based on their health needs rather than your budget. This means you're more likely to pursue the best treatment options, even for costly procedures.
It's important to carefully review and compare different pet insurance plans, as coverage and costs can vary. Consider your pet's age, breed, health history, and any specific needs when selecting a plan. While pet insurance does come with a monthly premium, it can save you a substantial amount of money and emotional stress when your pet faces unexpected health challenges.
We have GapOnly available which further reduces the financial burden as you'll only need to pay us the gap and we can lodge teh claim for you - check out their webpage for a good place to start comparing insurance providers.

How does GapOnly® help pet parents?

Claim with GapOnly® at participating Vets to access your pet insurance benefit within minutes, meaning less to pay upfront on eligible Vet expenses!

Find your closest GapOnly® Vet and meet our pet insurance partners at gaponly.com.au

GapOnly® is available on eligible claims at participating Vet clinics with a pet insurance policy from a GapOnly® pet insurance partner.

GapOnly ® is a trademark owned by PetSure (Australia) Pty Ltd (PetSure). Policies are issued by The Hollard Insurance Company Pty Ltd and/or PetSure (from 8 May 2023 only). Consider the PDS & TMD before purchasing available at our partners' websites. Meet our partners at gaponly.com.au/partners

As we approach the Christmas Season, many people may be planning to board their pet or travel during the holiday season, many facilities require proof of up-to-date vaccinations.

If you are not planning to travel - ensuring your pet is protected against common diseases will give you peace of mind, especially during a time when you want to focus on enjoying the holiday season rather than worrying about your pet's health.

It's a good idea to book in ahead as we are already booking appointments for November and December.

Please bear with us as this time of year we do get an influx during the Festive Season, booking ahead will ensure we are able to fit you in.

Meet the Team – Nurse Sam
Sam graduated University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Veterinary Technology) in 2019 and joined our team in March 2023.
In her spare time, she enjoys reading, buying more books than she could ever read in her lifetime, enjoys a good cup of tea, binge-watching TV series, and renovating her home with my husband, Michael. She has 2 elderly spoilt Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Charlie and Peppy.
Sam’s favourite part of nursing is giving hospital patients love and care when they can't be with their owners, and seeing a pets reaction when they are reunited with their owners (even if they've only been in for the day!)
