Storm’s First Ever Jumping Competition
⛈️ JEDS Dark N Stormy had his first ever competition experience yesterday at Fig Tree Pocket.

Even though I thought we had the loading sussed he decided to test out that theory in the morning, resulting in us missing the x-rails which was a pain.
•
He did arrive and take it all in his stride (😜), tied up alongside the arena watching in awe!!!
•
Everything was a new challenge and a win, standing at the float ✅, walking to the warm up and not completely (but slightly) losing our **** when approached by a skewbald ✅, realising horses in the warm up coming past aren’t in fact riding straight for us ✅, not panicking when another horse jumps ✅, rider not falling off ✅

Getting into the ring was a bonus. Storm did have something to say about fences 1-4, not scared as such but green unsure moments. The bell was rung, which I didn’t hear and continued, we then got going and jumped the rest of the round well! That’s what’s here in this video.

Storm ⛈️ having another jumping outing today a week before his first little showjumping comp. What made me enter the 70cm I will never know. I need to try and change so that 60cm is the biggest. Even just being in the atmosphere will be a big ask.•He’s getting much more relaxed going out and about it but still gets very distracted. It didn’t take long before he was properly pooped. Last nights antics with Storm!!! Steps closer to getting out and about! It’s been a slow process getting Storm happy to load in the angled load and although it’s been frustrating, I need him to be relaxed and happy. I need to be able to load him single handedly so taking this slowly has been important!….next step in next few days will be to take him for a little drive and hope that he’ll load up again afterwards!!! If you cut out the bad bits of my showjumping round from today (that I 100% caused all of), its looks quite ok 🥴•Other than my strength and core/ position letting me down on the landing side.•After flying round ceoss- country in the morning, having THE BEST time (albeit casual with time penalities) i was ridiculous nervous about the showjumping.Foxy was also tired but pulled soem energy out the bag. Im so sorry for her that I let her down!•Between now and our next event we will jump more and i’ll try and work on my mental game!•Great to back at prelim (95cm) though! It’s hard to find time to wean a foal when you’re always away at work, it’s a stressful time. I’ve been really sick this week and hence been home so over the last few days we have gradually split Plum and Tilly up. This evening Tilly got taken up the back to be with Jet and Foxy. Aunty Fire was brought in to be with Plum and they will eventually be turned out together.••Plum has whinnied a bit and Tilly was pacing before dinner but they seem to have taken it in their stride.
