Stormous Ginormous popping over the scary rainbow 🌈 fence at his first showjumping competition!

Every time I see him in his paddock I tell him he’s a professional now! He loves it 😜🤣

15/09/2024

⛈️ JEDS Dark N Stormy had his first ever competition experience yesterday at Fig Tree Pocket.

Even though I thought we had the loading sussed he decided to test out that theory in the morning, resulting in us missing the x-rails which was a pain.

He did arrive and take it all in his stride (😜), tied up alongside the arena watching in awe!!!

Everything was a new challenge and a win, standing at the float ✅, walking to the warm up and not completely (but slightly) losing our **** when approached by a skewbald ✅, realising horses in the warm up coming past aren’t in fact riding straight for us ✅, not panicking when another horse jumps ✅, rider not falling off ✅

Getting into the ring was a bonus. Storm did have something to say about fences 1-4, not scared as such but green unsure moments. The bell was rung, which I didn’t hear and continued, we then got going and jumped the rest of the round well! That’s what’s here in this video.

So so proud of my first homebred!

So hard to explain the feeling of all the accomplishments….

💥JEDS Starwood💥

OTTB 13yr 16.3hh Bay Gelding
By Red Dazzler
Retired about 6yrs ago and has been with me ever since
45 starts, 10 wins
Has completed 2x EvA60s and 2x EvA80s
Flashy mover- judges love him.
Suited to a home with a love for dressage and low level eventing.
He has the scope to go 95cm.

Lovely, cheeky personality
Easy to load and take out
Can be a handful to lead when out and about, but nothing dangerous.
Not currently in full work

Needs an experienced rider to get the best out of him but he is just fantastic.

Hoping to find his forever home,
Priced to sell and to a home that will take him on willing to continue his management.

$8000
5* Home is most important therefore I am negotiable.

Not overly exciting but I’m finally getting through some footage I’ve vlogged,
They’re not the best, I’m out of practice and also feel like a wolly and like no one will watch anyway, but still….i enjoy doing them, just have to get back into the swing of them and it’s such a good way to follow the horses journeys,

I’m sad I’ve missed quite a lot of the last few years since I broke my leg, but hoping to catch up!

If you can be bothered to watch, please comment on YouTube, give it a like and subscribe if you haven’t yet.

HAPPY HORSE BIRTHDAY 🥳🥳

Did you know 🤓

The 1st of August each year is the date all horses are judged to turn one year older, no matter their actual foaling date.

This is implemented to achieve a uniform date for all equestrian pursuits and was introduced because of the historical lack of records of actual foaling dates….

Hmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔

We hope there’s a few carrot cakes handed out today! 🥕🎂

If you can help towards lovely little Wally please go read his story.

His lovely dam had to be euthanised shortly after he was born. He was adopted by another pony but unfortunately had a large hernia caused by the pull on his umbilicus.

He needed surgery for this and a suspected septic joint. He was doing well and had gone home

But he now has pneumonia 😢

I know first hand how stressful, emotional and financially draining it is to have a sick foal and not want to give up. I have still far from recovered from Plum’s hospitalisation but I am so thankful to everyone that stuck behind us and that she is still here!

Come on Wally 🙏🏻🩷

If you are new to Wally’s story please scroll down to go through his story before… Jackii Butler needs your support for Help support Wally’s umbilical surgery

Thinking about this coming foal season!!! And hoping this foal is still cooking 🍳 🤞🏻 Snor & Coolness R combo.

Pandora is by APH Shrek who is the grandsire to Go Tosca and sire to my other lovely mare Go Flying Fox (Foxy)

Coolness R is a young stallion down at Ryan’s horses and is by Chilli Morning (who won Badminton with William Fox-Pitt) and out of a mare by Wimborne constable and with Regardez Moi lines!

So so hope this baby is still in there and if it is sooo excited to see it! I adore Pandora and the foal would hopefully be super bling! Both mum and dad Chestnut and blingy!

I’m so out of practice of both vlogging and riding. But trying to post some of these videos I’ve been taking over the past few months and just been too busy to get organised!

Eventually may get out this recent event!

Would love a like, or comment on the vlog, apologies, far from best….not even any horse footage 😓

🥶 Toowoomba ODE 🦊
It was awesome to be back eventing with my girl! It’s been TWO whole years! Since the week before my fractured tibial plateau, we did what was meant to be Foxy’s last prelim at Warwick- Feb 2022! 🙄
This comp, back in the 80cm

Well this weekend, feeling pretty unprepared, no dressage lessons in forever! Have hardly showjumped and feeling really not fit enough!
My lovely bestie Emily trudged up with me very late Friday and helped strap for me and keep me functioning (I’m also currently sick 🤧 and now have no voice at all)

Foxy isn’t quite herself at the moment and our flatwork at home has been a bit eek…so I didn’t have any expectations.

As I went to approach my ring after about 5 mins terrible warm up- my stirrup leather fell right off! We then went in and Foxy didn’t really put a foot wrong (went better than I expected) but felt tense and far far from how I’d like. I thought I’d be right down the field but we were blessed and sat in 8th on 34.8 (67.8+62.5%).

Miraculously we showjumped clear- all thanks to Foxy! She was on springs! I was trying to channel my inner David Finch( Finch Farm) but when I was between a few strides I’d stuff it last few strides 🤦🏻‍♀️ Foxy helped me out! What a legend.

I’m soooooo rusty.

Awesome night in the swanky EuroFloat feeling very spoiled, heating up out precooked dinner with the microwave 💁🏻‍♀️🍝 before ending the weekend today on Cross- country!

Clearly the best phase! Although I did nearly stack it at the first warm up fence that was 30cm high 🤦🏻‍♀️
My nerves were that Foxy was going to ping me out of the saddle and I had no leg sticky stuff! Anyway, no fear! Foxy was brilliant! Fearless, not strong and listened to me so well! We cruised round at the perfect pace, then my grandma brain near the end couldn’t work out how times worked and thought I’d be too fast, so steadied for the drop. But I would have been spot on. We were 1 min over!

Anyway long story short ( not v short) Foxy finished 7th/27 adding only my silly 0.4 to her dressage score!

Two weeks now until she steps back up to prelim at FTP 💪🏻😃 I so hope I start feeling better soon. I’m going to bed.

Thank you Emily Russell for all your help this weekend. So many laughs. 🩷🩷🩷
