Hi everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you all that my Lady Daisy Elizabeth has been diagnosed with kidney failure. She's close to her time. I am devastated. This little girl has been my daughter for almost 8 years now, and her 14th birthday is this month. It never feels like enough time together. Please understand this means my reliability will not be 100% at the moment. I apologise if I have to cancel any appointments last minute. We nearly lost her a couple of days ago. I have no idea how long she has. Some days are ok, some are terrible.
I love you so much, Dee. You are the perfect dog. My best friend. The light in my life. Please hold on a little longer x

Hi everyone, long time no post.
I'm pleased to announce The Kind Canine will be operating again.
Please note we no longer offer grooming services.
Our current services include classes at Petbarn Victoria Point, one on one in store sessions, private training, limited pet sitting & dog walking, and grooming lessons. Pricing is available on the website (thekindcanine.com.au).
As I'm back to working full time I will have limited availability with private training. Thank you for your understanding βΊοΈ

Something I've had come up in my private sessions or at my Real Job classes recently is people seeking a seperate opinion from a different trainer. In and of itself, I have no issues with this. In grooming, I'm proactively a team player and encourage a trainer and vet team to get involved if necessary. Same with my training and vets/sitters/walkers/possibly another trainer if their ethics and protocol are similar.
What I can not abide is charlatan trainers who use buzz words, scam or give blatantly dangerous and outdated advice.
I've been hands on with animals and their behaviour for 24 years (starting as a shelter volunteer and working my way up) and have seen so many fads come and go. But never have I seen so many uneducated, uncertified dangerous "trainers" (and groomers) permanently damaging dogs. Anyone can claim to do a job, but not everyone can do a job well.
Good animal professionals want you to succeed and will do anything in their power to make it happen. That can include telling you some hard truths, and expecting you to put the effort in. Anything else is a fancy dress lie.
Also please be careful of any classes run by someone who isn't a trainer, full stop. They won't know danger signs, won't be able to teach you how to socialise correctly, or how to help an under confident puppy not become a problematic adult. Ask questions. Do your research. Please.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk! π

Hi everyone, you may have noticed it's been harder than usual to get an appointment, or to even get in contact with me recently. I've been going through some pretty serious health stuff, and will be having an operation on the 14th of March. TKC will be closed for a week from the 13th.
Current pet sitting jobs will be honoured but I will not be able to groom or do anything strenuous.
Thank you so much for your understanding during this difficult time.

Happy new year everyone! We reopen on the 5th of Jan.
Welcome to The Kind Canine crew, Poppy! A young lady spoodle, she's been to a few groomers that haven't appreciated her sensitive nature. It took about 2 minutes before she gently put her paw in my hand and gazed into my eyes. I melted. She was a total angel to groom! π Behavioral issues who?

For those of you who are new to following me, I thought I'd introduce myself.
Hi! I'm Emma and these are my two kids - Lady Daisy Elizabeth (13), my Maltese X Shih Tzu rescue girl, and Ernesto Bryn (2), my recently adopted Cardigan Welsh Corgi. The dog in my logo is my heart dog, Scooter the Papillon who passed away earlier this year suddenly at 12 π
I have worked with dogs my entire adult life, and I'm now 37. I started in the shelter system, began grooming at 19 and training when I got Scootie home 13 years ago. He was my project dog, traumatised me for the first year π and was my nearest and dearest for the rest of his life.
Now I do a bit of everything. I teach puppy school classes and some adult dog classes at Petbarn on the weekends, groom a couple of days a week and do in home behavioural work the rest of the time. It's absolute bliss. I did Delta many years ago, but am redoing it so I can eventually assess Mind Dog candidates. I am fear free certified in grooming and also on the board of compliance for Australia, which means if someone does the wrong thing, I deal with the reports and follow up whether they should continue being certified or not.
My passions are setting up young dogs for success and helping broken dogs navigate the world. I love toy breeds so much, but am an equal opportunity pet lover. At home I have my dogs, hermit crabs (5 of them) and a lot of fish and shrimp!
Thanks for supporting my little business - it means the world to me π₯°

Double coat care is so important if you don't want hair covering every surface of your home/car/meals etc. Ernie is such a good boy for his grooms because he's been getting done regularly since he was a tiny puppy. Being a corgi mum, I love a good double coat groom! π

Only 33 days until I fly away to the states for a month! Please book in if you want a spot before, there are very limited appointments left. I won't be back till late Feb and would hate for anyone to miss out! β
Hello my lovely clients and friends, I miss you all. We are still working hard to get me back to grooming ready. Scooter is going in for surgery today as he still has that cough, it hasn't gone away despite courses of antibiotics and steroids so he's getting tests, xrays and stuff removed. He went in for a check yesterday and here we are the next day π’ We are so worried and the timing couldn't be worse financially. Please keep my son in your thoughts today π

@oliviasparkle_thespaniel modelling our new dryer brush! Lovely for use on ears and face, especially for those scared babies who don't like the dryer (aka most dogs lol). Isn't she the most beautiful girl! π
Hi there, my name is Emma and I am a pet groomer. Iβve been in the business since I was 19 and have been a professional canine stylist for 13 years!
My inspiration comes from my dogs that have passed on, Bambi (my beloved Pomeranian x in the photo) in particular. She was a timid, undersocialised rescue from a backyard breeder who hoarded over 60 dogs on a suburban block. I was lucky enough to be chosen as Bambiβs guardian and she greatly influenced how I groom dogs. She was scared of being caged and of loud noises, and needed gentle one-on-one care.
To this day I love grooming the elderly, the fearful, puppies and any doggo that needs a bit of special attention! I have been in the salon side of pet care for a long time now, as well as grooming and vet clinics and working as a vet nurse for part of my career. As my health currently demands, I want to step back and groom in a home-based environment where I can focus solely on the client I have booked in, going as slowly and patiently as needed.
We use only the best cruelty-free, Australian made shampoo and conditioner, and I will not agree to any groom that hurts the doggy client by pulling on weeks or months of matting. Imagine if you hadnβt brushed your hair for 2 months and a hairdresser started dragging a comb through it! We are all about humanity before vanity at The Kind Canine.
Feel free to send me a facebook message if you have any questions and please note we only (currently) groom small to medium dogs. I can happily refer you on if you have a bigger dog to a number of lovely salons in the area!
