🌟SUPERSTAR ALERT🌟

We’d like to introduce you to a very special lady called HARPER. She visited for her desexing procedure yesterday after she reached a very significant milestone. Her dedicated family have worked very hard to help Harper lose over 10kgs in recent months. By altering her food intake and taking up fun new activities like swimming, they have not only reduced her risks during surgery but have reduced her risks of health issues throughout her life.

It is reported that she has more energy to chase her other waggy brothers and sisters. We could not be more proud of her (and her family’s) hard work. WELL DONE HARPER!!

The accomodation here at clinic mostly gets good reviews… unless you’re Margot and get locked in the shed. 🐾

How to keep an Iggy warm in recovery? Bring some cuddle buddies. We had the pleasure of this long legged crew visiting for their teeth cleaning yesterday.

🐾Moe has something important he’d like to talk to you about…🐾

We’re seeing a rise in cases of kennel cough lately, so let’s revisit what you need to know…

💨 Kennel cough is a contagious respiratory infection that causes a dry, hacking cough that can sometimes sound like there’s something “stuck in the throat.” It can spread quickly anywhere dogs are in close contact: boarding kennels, groomers, dog parks, or daycare.

🚨 Symptoms can present as:
- Persistent dry cough or “honking” sound
- Gagging or retching
- Mild fever or nasal discharge
- Decreased energy or appetite

💉 Prevention:
Vaccination helps REDUCE the risk and severity of infection. Please isolate your dog if it is showing symptoms. Most cases are mild, but puppies, seniors, or dogs with other health issues may need medical attention.

‼️ Please note! If you are bringing your dog to the clinic with KC symptoms, please leave your dog in the car and let us know you are here. ‼️

🌾 Tis the season… FOR GRASS SEEDS. 🌾

Grass seeds can find themselves just about anywhere! We have seen a big rise in the amount that we are finding hiding in the eyes. If you suspect your dog has a grass seed in their eye it is important that they are treated by a vet as soon as possible! Signs can include, crusty eyes, swelling and redness or discharge around the eyes.

Over the weekend, staff traded scrubs and stethoscopes for the glitz and glam to raise a glass for hope at the Sophie’s Legacy Gala.

“Dr. Sophie Putland was a daughter, a sister, a friend, and a beloved vet, who tragically took her own life in September 2021. The pressure of the veterinary profession, including client abuse, became overwhelming for her.

On average, a vet dies by su***de approximately
every 12 weeks.
Family and friends established Sophie’s Legacy to honour her memory and advocate for change within the industry. We are determined to see all veterinary staff thrive. Happy vets equals happy pets too, right?”

We are very passionate about this cause here at Virginia and are always grateful for the community that supports us. For more information on how you can help make a difference please visit Sophie’s Legacy: https://sophieslegacy.com

Little Clementine is well experienced at the puppy dog eyes. 🥺

Her mum tells us that the 6.30am wake up for her small breakfast in bed was too much for a small girl, who prefers to beauty sleep until 10am most days. Lucky she bought her emotional support teddy to confide in.
