Don’t forget to book your spot!

If you didn't remember to add a ticket to the Grizzcon Rider's Party to your entry, it's not too late to book a spot.

Instead of logging back into Nominate and trying to make it happen you can make a bank transfer to the club bank account, put the reference as your surname and the word dinner and flick us an email telling us how many tickets you want. Wrist bands will be provided for this event and you can collect them from the secretaries office when you arrive.

If the dinner isn't enough to encourage you to book in then the Sinkhole Gin cocktails will seal the deal...Without doubt the best place to dine will be at the rider's party, so don't be the one to miss out on all the fun. 🍹🍸

Edited to add: This clinic is now open to NON-PONY CLUB MEMBERS and also members of other pony clubs. If you are not a pony club member, club membership to SAEEM is available for a cost of $20.00 for the day, a disclaimer must be signed and riders, parents and guardians need to understand this membership provides you with public liability cover but does not provide any form of medical cover. SHOWJUMPING CLINIC SUNDAY 21st JULY 2024 @ MGDPC

Tonight I bring you news of a show jumping clinic, it's very short notice as it is next Sunday 21st July. But when opportunities present you have to grab them with both hands.

The clinic fee is $50.00 per participant, the lesson will be one hour long, it will be small groups (grouped by ability) and you must book and pay before this Wednesday 17th July by 5.00pm.

Lesson times will be provided Friday night and if you have a time preference you NEED to make that clear when you book. Everything will be done to try and work with your requirements but there are no guarantees.

Let's talk about the instructor...Her name is Kate Crauford and she's an international, professional show jumper back home in Australia for a short period of time.

Some of you might be familiar with her be name, others may know her in person as she is actually a former member of the Mount Gambier & Districts Pony Club. Kate first joined the club in 2004 and competed predominately in eventing until her focus on showjumping intensified in her early teens.

Through her Junior/Young Rider years she was fortunate to compete successfully across Australia (including WA & NSW) whilst juggling school and she was able to gain excellent guidance from some of the best in the sport.
Since 2019 Kate has been based in Florida, USA riding alongside and with some of her childhood idols. She currently rides for Double H Farm, USA – home of professional showjumper Quentin Judge. Prior to working for Double H Kate worked in successful hunter/equitation barns where she was an assistant trainer/rider.

With all of this experience Kate is the perfect coach for our members, so don't waste this opportunity. You can either comment on this message and pay to the club bank account $50.00 to secure your spot or message Emma Swaffer to do the same. Cash can also be paid at the Winter Series this weekend to Emma, please put it in an envelope with your name.

When you reply to participate you also need to specify your grading or if you have been riding as an EA competitor and don't have a grading indicate the height you are showing jumping.

2024 Plantation Treated Timber Mount Gambier Horse Trials

We have been a bit silent here on our socials recently, but that doesn't mean that behind the scenes its been that way! Plans for August are well underway and honestly we are very excited. We are back into the spot we held on the calendar years ago, a lead up event for Friends of Werribee, Spring Horse Trials, Currency Creek and the rest of the eventing season. We have going that will give you a perfect cross country ride regardless of the weather conditions.

Entries open this Friday morning at 5am SA time on Nominate. You're asking why so early? We are opening at that hour so you have time to get your entries in before you feed your horses and head to work, we listened to your comments last year and if this works for you, well it works for us too! Entry numbers for the 2024 event are capped.

Why isn't the event already on Nominate? The simple answer is we have a few things that need to be ironed out and the Nominate staff are the only ones who can do this for us, so we are waiting to publish until it is all working.

To give you a heads up on what we are offering the event schedule is posted along with this post. There is a class for almost everyone with classes from 50cm through to 3.5*.

Classes 1, 2 and 3 this year are called SAEEM and you may be an EA member or you may purchase a club membership for the weekend. This membership costs $20.00 and provides you with public liability cover but does not provide any form of medical cover. It is recommended if you are going to compete as a club member you consider having medical, ambulance and income protection that suits your circumstance. All classes are run under EA rules.

Camping and yards: we have 60 permanent yards available on the grounds and we also have an area within the airport precinct where you are able to build your own yards and camp. Both of these options are to be booked with your entries. When booking yards you may only book for the number of horses you have entered and requests for having yards with friends are to be made with entries.

We can't wait to welcome you back to Mount Gambier in August if you've been before, and if it's your first visit we know you are going to have the best time.

Our local dressage club SEDA will also be joining us at the grounds - if you are needing to practice your dressage but also want to have some fun on cross country then come along! Entries for the dressage are through The South Eastern Dressage Association🦄

This weekend at the Mount Gambier Horse Trials younger riders and their parents were treated to an instructional course walk with MacKenzie Richards-Fennell.
MacKenzie is a MGDPC member who is an event and show jump rider. She kindly took the time to share her knowledge about ring etiquette, making use of the arena, safe lines, what to do if things don’t go to plan etc…
We are very lucky to have young adults like MacKenzie in our equine community who are inclusive and encouraging to others. We are sure her sponsors and G&S Equine Solutions are proud to be represented so well.
