World, meet Cher ✨
You may remember a tiny glimpse of this delicate little fighter from our Thursday video, but she is long overdue for her proper introduction.
Cher arrived desperately unwell, scarily thin, starving, dehydrated, with pneumonia, a stomach bug, and an eye infection. She was weak, covered in dust and dirt, and the emotional trauma of her short life was heartbreakingly clear. At only around two weeks old, she had already fought harder than any baby ever should have to
Orphaned and alone, Cher had been surviving with barely any milk and no protection. No little one should have to grow up that fast. She likely kept herself alive by sneaking sips of milk from unsuspecting ewes and learning far too early how to drink water and nibble grass. But a baby’s body needs more than determination, and despite all her efforts, she arrived perilously ill
Each day she makes small steps forward. She still has ups and downs, but this photo captured a moment where she truly seemed to feel okay, and we hope soon she’ll feel like that all the time. Emotionally, she’s gone from scared and confused to walking up for pats, and I honestly believe her recovery wouldn’t be possible without Britney, who has taken on the sweetest “big sister” role. Cher follows her everywhere
Please send Cher all your love in the comments, I promise I’ll read every single one to her ❤️
Over the last few weeks, we’ve had more animals needing help than ever, but we simply aren’t receiving the donations we need to keep doing this work. I’d love to make our fundraising more fun and engaging, but right now, with the level of care required, I just don’t have the spare time. I’m sorry about that, I really am!
If you haven’t already, and you’re willing and able, please consider supporting us at shearexistencesanctuary.org and by liking, sharing, and commenting on our posts. Every little bit truly helps x
