Britney is on Vacay at her holiday house with Free Spirits Sheep Sanctuary. She does not seem to be missing us much at all!

Britney’s carer is off enjoying a well-deserved beach holiday, while Sunny’s carer is busy hosting a wedding - so we’ve happily stepped in for babysitting duties! 🐑🐑

It’s all part of the job here at the sanctuary… caring for our extended woolly family, even when their humans are off having a little fun 🏝💍🥂

Please help these precious elderly cuties find a soft place to land after losing their human ❤️

HOME NEEDED – Safe Haven for Tommy & Tammy
Location: Gerogery West, NSW

Tommy the wether (castrated male) and Tammy the ewe are looking for a safe and loving home after their owner sadly passed away.

They’re older sheep with barely any teeth left who deserve a peaceful place to retire. Both are relatively friendly and have a soft spot for Weet-Bix!

Most rescues and sanctuaries are currently full or focusing on high-risk cases, so we’re hoping someone out there can open their heart and paddock to these two old gentle souls.

We’re happy to assist with transport and provide a health check for the right home if needed.

Keeping Hope Alive at Shear Existence Sanctuary 💚

It’s been a big few weeks here at the sanctuary, the kind that remind us how much heart and grit it takes to keep doing this work, but we will always give the animals our all!

Recently, we said goodbye to our beautiful goat, Lucy. She had suddenly become unwell, and we did everything we possibly could. After hours vet visits, tests, medications, and surgery. We hoped so deeply that she’d pull through, but sometimes love and endless determination just aren't enough, poor Lucy had an inoperable tumour. Losing her has left a quiet space and a Lucy shaped hole here, and we miss her terribly

Moments like that are the hardest part of sanctuary life. We love them fiercely, and when one of them passes, it always hurts so very deeply, each and every time. But what also comes with that love is responsibility, to give every animal here the best life possible, for however long they’re with us…and sometimes, to help them move on with peace and dignity.

Right now, our vet bills have stacked up from Lucy’s care and others who’ve needed treatment. We don't regret a thing, but we’re heading into another busy season of feed, medications, supplements, shearing, bedding and ongoing care for the flock. It all adds up quickly and continually, we could really use some help to catch up and keep moving forward. Our Vet bill alone this month is currently $5200 and climbing

If you can, please consider donating. Every dollar goes directly to the animals to cover food, medical care, bedding, enrichment, supplements and all aspects of providing rescued animals everything they are worthy of. Each and every individual is priceless and holds worth that far exceeds and monetary value, but the care they require and deserve comes with a hefty price tag

Pretty Grace and her Flock all sort out the shelter during yesterday's rainy Sunday ☔

Grace was rescued as a downed and emaciated Ewe with a full udder and an unaccounted for Lamb. She had never experienced something so basic as her right to shelter from the elements or individual care and attention, her Flock would just huddle together and wait it out

Today, as a Sanctuary Sheep, she is loved, respected and cared for as the worthy and cherished individual that she is❤️

Thanks to everyone who asked a question on our previous post, we look forward to answering all your curiosities about the animals, sanctuary and us ❤️ We have been rained out this afternoon which was so lovely, but it means we didn't quite get to pull off our question answering plan. We look forward to doing it throughout the week, which is actually better because in reality we both talk far too much to squish it all into one video 😅
