Meet D A I S Y 💜 a 4 month old Airedale Terrier

Daisy visited for her first groom and was an absolute pleasure. Daisy is a farm girl and received a short basic haircut. Her owner wanted some small eyebrows and a small beard to add some character. We think she is cuuuute! 🥰😍

2 weeks prior to her first groom, Daisy came in for a Puppy Experience and we were able to ease her into the grooming process.

Did you know the Airedale is the largest of all the Terriers? They originate from England and were originally bred as a versatile hunting and farm dog, but they have had many uses as a war dog, guide dog, police dog, and for hunting large game.

Charlie visited for the first time for a Day Spa Double Coat De-Shed (short hair) groom

We certainly shifted plenty of hair during the groom. These dogs are very high shedding dogs as their hair has a short life cycle. All of our grooms include a nail trim.

Meet A V A 💜 the Husky

Ava had her first salon visit 3 weeks ago with a 30min confidence session. The following week we did her first groom. This week she came in for a 30min brush to help her owners keep on top of her coat. But also to help build her confidence here in the salon.

Ava doesn’t socialise much and finds it quite overwhelming to be out of the house.

We’ve seen a huge difference in her confidence and behaviour in the 3 visits with us. Nicole has also been able to offer helpful advice to her owners.

We are heading to the Pet Microchipping day being held at the Wangaratta Kennel & Obedience Dog Club this Sunday 10am-2pm.
We will have a merch stand set up with a range of doggy products from our salon shop and Amy will be on hand to offer coat care advice as well as $20 nail trims (half of which will be donated to the Wangaratta Kennel Club).

There will be plenty of other things going on too! Agility demonstrations, face painting and BBQ. Don't miss out on seeing Lindsay from Canine Nurture who will be doing FREE gait and soft tissue assessments on the day - AMAZING! She knows her stuff when it comes to muscles and functional exercise.

Meet M I K A 💜 the 18 month old Labradoodle

Mika lives a fun and exciting life on a farm with her family. They like her coat length short and practical, particularly her legs and feet so they can identify if any foreign material, especially grass seeds, get trapped in her fur.

For our double coated breeds washing is recommended every 4-6 weeks. And a professional groom every 2-3 months.
Don't forget a weekly brush with a slicker brush to help maintain the volume of undercoat in between grooms.

Meet O S C A R 💜 the Golden Retriever

Oscar had never been to a grooming salon before and his owner wasn’t sure how he would cope in the environment.

So Oscar visited us for a 30 minute confidence session. He had a low key visit, we tested him on the groom table, in the bath, out in the grooming room and around the salon. Without the stress of a groom. We also got to play a game and provide plenty of treats and fun.

Oscar will visit us this week for his first groom. And we appreciate the effort his owner invested in him, to help ease him into the salon environment.

Meet W I N T E R 💜 an 8yo Australian Shepherd

The Aussie Shepherd is a herding dog and actually originated in the United States to tend to large flocks of sheep.

This breed is known to be energetic, loyal, sociable, affectionate, alert, highly trainable and intelligent.

Winter carries a large volume of coat and is the perfect candidate to attend the salon regularly for a 30 min brush appt in between her de-shed grooms.

Meet R E G G I E 💜 a 1yo Labradoodle

Occasionally we come across dogs that are very distressed by the grooming process. Reggie has veterinary prescribed sedatives before his groom to allow him to be safely groomed, and to help him through the process. In this instance the dog is given a shorter basic haircut to minimise the frequency of visits.

In the background, Reggie’s owner is working on building his confidence at home and he has short confidence session visits in the salon.

Meet J O H N N Y 💜 an 8yo rough/wire haired Jack Russell Terrier

Johnny had his first visit for a full groom. A lovely warm bath, a thorough brush out during the blow dry (lots of hair shedding out), and then a full haircut. He had a 13mm comb on the body, and 10mm comb on the legs. The feet had a short trim to keep them tidy.

Johnny did great for his first visit to our salon. Very cute! 🥰🤩

Meet N O R R I S 💜 a 5yo Groodle

Norris had his first visit for a full groom. His owner has been grooming him at home.

Norris has a slow growing, straight, shedding, continuous growing coat. After his bath it was like doing a de-shed groom on a Golden Retriever… hair everywhere! But because he has the continuous growing coat from the poodle genetics, he also requires a haircut.

Norris had a 16mm comb length for his haircut. His groom took 3 hours.

We’ve decided to do a “split groom” for his next full groom. Where we wash and dry the coat one day, and do the haircut another day (usually the day after while the coat is clean, dry and prepped). This works well for XL dogs.

She was an absolute pleasure to have in the salon. Her groom service took 1.25hr. She received a warm bath, blow dry, brush, nail trim, ears wiped out, and a full haircut 🥰

Meet R O S I E 💜 a 5 month old Labradoodle

Rosie visited for the first time last week. She had a Puppy Experience, which is a warm bath, gentle blow dry, nail trim hygiene trim and eye trim.

We also introduce our puppies to the clippers slowly passing over their bodies and legs. And we let the puppy owners know how their puppy handled their first salon visit.

We find most of our puppies need follow up 30min confidence sessions to the salon before they are ready for their first haircut (full groom).

This is Rosie visiting for a 30min confidence session. She spent time on the groom table, we used the blow dryer on her, a gentle brush through, more trimming around her face, and some clipper practice. And importantly she had a low-stress, short, positive visit - using the snuffle mat and having an opportunity to sniff and explore around the salon.

Rosie will visit us again for another confidence session before her first groom.

Puppies need practice. They don’t naturally know how to accept the groom processes, or immediately have confidence with us and the equipment. We offer tips and advice to their owners on how they can also help prepare their puppies for a life time of grooming.

We recommend introducing your puppy to grooming processes and equipment as soon as you bring your puppy home, and well BEFORE your puppy is due for their first groom.

Meet H O W I E 💜 a 2yo Cavoodle

Howie visits every 7 weeks for a Day Spa Full Groom. Howie has a thick, wavy fleece style coat. And his owner choses to keep him a short-medium length that is easier to maintain. He has a 10mm (1cm) length haircut. High friction areas are a shorter length such as the groin, elbows, hygiene, under/behind the ears and under his feet. His face is trimmed into a round teddy style.

Howie has really relaxed into the grooming salon life 🥰

Meet J E S S I E 💜 a 13yo Puggle (pug x beagle)

Jessie visits every month for a Day Spa double coat de-shed (short hair) groom. We use a de-shedding shampoo & rubber grooming mit to help shift Jessie’s loose hair. Her owner notices a huge reduction in hair around the home.
