Well, October is going just as fast as it came around!

This October, Wimmera Mallee Vet Services celebrate 3 years of being open and what a journey it has been!

We have met lots of wonderful people and treated so many dogs, cats, horses, sheep, goats, ferrets and rabbits just to name a few.

We have had the pleasure of working with a number of knowledgeable Vets that have passed through, as well as some bright young vet students and work experience students!

The old building has had a bit of a face lift here and there and the gardens are looking beautiful.

Thank you to all of our clients for the ongoing support!

Congrats to Dr Tony and his wife Joyce for 3 years of business. ๐Ÿ˜€

Here are a few photos from over the years, mainly cute animals hehe, enjoy! ๐Ÿพ

To avoid disappointment we urge you to book well in advance for all non-urgent appointments.

MEET THE TEAM ๐Ÿ‘‹

Next up is Caelan - Vet Nurse/Receptionist

Caelan joined the team in 2020 and has been mostly working as a vet nurse. He also does medical clips and more recently has been helping out in reception - the perfect allrounder! There's always laughs when Caelan is on, with his clumsy shenanigans and humour!

What pets do you own?
"A cat named Clawdia and a budgie named Berb"

What is your favourite memory from working at WMVS?
"Helping to save a Jack Russell puppy who had been bitten by a snake which required me to manually breath for him for multiple hours (with help from others of course)."

Dogs or cats?
"dogs!"

The clinic will be closed this weekend: Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th.

MEET THE TEAM ๐Ÿ‘‹

Next up is one of our superstar Vet Nurses - Georgia

Georgia has been with WMVS since Dr Tony opened shop in Warrack at the end of 2019 and we would be lost without her!
A great animal lover, you might see Georgia assisting Dr Tony in consults and surgeries or she may be hiding out the back caring for our clients furbabies or snapping some great puppy photos!

What pets do you have?
"Two adopted Kelpie x - Porky and Pip. And a little ginger cat - Sassy"

What's your favorite type of surgery to assist with?
"I'd have to say caesareans"

Tomato sauce in the fridge or pantry?
"definitely pantry!" ๐Ÿ˜…

Look at these dare devils!

As we know, Dr Tony is a keen motorcyclist and loves hitting the highway whenever he gets the chance so he thought why not share the ride with the pugs!

Turns out, Sadiri is quite the hoon! (zoom in to get a look at his little helmet ๐Ÿ˜…) but Saniata, not so much, think she'll need a little more practice before she becomes a bikey!

MEET THE TEAM ๐Ÿ‘‹

Andrew - Receptionist

The face that greets all of our lovely clients. Andrew doesn't really come from an animal related background so when he found himself working in our busy clinic he was in for a wild ride! He has taken everything in his stride though and has grown so much since joining us in December 2020. He'll often wander in from the front counter to see what's going on out the back and has been known to lend a hand when needed.

What pet would you love to own one day?
"I would like to one day own a Greyhound"

What is you favourite thing about working at WMVS?
"I enjoy working with staff and seeing all the animals"

Do you say 'Parmi' or 'Parma'?
"I say Parma"

MEET THE TEAM! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Next up is Simmon - Clinic Manager.

AKA Sim, she's the glue that holds us all together. Sim has plenty of experience with animals having worked at boarding kennels, animal shelters and managing a small cattery in Ballarat before moving back home to Warracknabeal to start working here at WMVS in October 2020. Sim takes any opportunity to get out of the office, often helping in surgery, consults and loves assisting when an animal has an abscess (the more yuck the better hehe)!

What pets do you have?
"Quinn, a Red Heeler x Border Collie and Lenny, a Kelpie x Koolie. Oh and I also count Tom our clinic cat haha"

What's your favourite memory from working at WMVS?
"Too many to choose from but I will never forget Lexi, the pup with tetanus" โค๏ธ

Does pineapple belong on pizza?
"Of course! and burgers too!"

MEET THE TEAM! ๐Ÿ‘‹

Over the next few weeks we will be introducing our wonderful staff here at Wimmera Mallee Veterinary Services.

This week we bring you Dr. Tony James himself!

The man with a wealth of knowledge about all things animals. With over 40 years experience you'll be sure to know you're getting the best advice when it comes to your furry friends. In his free time you'll catch Tony cruising the highways on his motor scooter or having a good yarn with mates.

What animals do you have?
" A rescue dog from Hong Kong - Suzie. 3 retired Greyhounds - Archie, Ava and Priscilla and 3 Pugs - Puggles, Sadiri and Saniata."

Best memory working as a Vet?
"So many and difficult to choose so I can only say, seeing a dog (or cat) walk out well and knowing I have been of service to my clients"

Give us your best Dad/Grandad joke!
"How do you catch a polar bear?
You cut a hole in the ice and hang a net inside it, on the first day you hang a fish over the hole, the polar bear comes and eats it. You do the same on the second, third and fourth day. On the fifth day, you don't hang a fish over the hole. When the polar bear comes, he looks around and can't see the fish, so when he looks into the hole you sneak up behind him and kick him in the 'ice' hole!"

Enjoying their day at Mount Gambierโ€™s meeting on Thursday were Wimmera Mallee Veterinary Services veterinarian Tony James and clinic manager Simmon McKew โ€“ at Tara Raceway for the first time. Tony, the stand-in vet for the day, moved to Warracknabeal with his family from Hong Kong to re-establish the local veterinary practice that had been out of action for more than a year.
