Last week saw the running of our annual AusChem Trainer PD in Melbourne. We were fortunate enough to have David Jochinke (National Farmers Federation president) to open up the event and speak to us about how to keep farmers farming by learning how to maintain high standards of chemical awareness. Day 2: Howard Chait talked to us from a lawyers perspective about legal issues with spray drift; and Dr Chris Preston from Univ of Adelaide spoke about future selective of w**d control and international market pressures. We also had a recorded session from Dr Paul Horne on pesticide selection within an IPM strategy. Our AusChem trainers have enjoyed all the excellent presentations over the last day and a half.

ChemClear is coming to Victoria in early 2023.
ChemClear® is drumMUSTER’s sister program that provides the collection and disposal service for unwanted and/or obsolete AgVet chemicals. ChemClear® is funded by the drumMUSTER’ levy. Eligible products (Group 1) are collected free of charge, and there is a cost for the disposal of non-eligible (Group 2) products.
ChemClear has scheduled a Victoria chemical collection for February-March 2023.
Chemical holders will need to pre-register their unwanted chemical by 16 December 2022.
Chemical Users can register their unwanted AgVet chemicals for the collection at www.chemclear.org.au/register-your-chemical or by filling out the below form and emailing it to [email protected].

For the first time ever, we are collaborating with AusChem to bring you this in-person event, set to run over the 8th and 9th of September 2022 in Waurn Ponds.
With a not-to-be-missed line-up, Farming a Brighter Future explores the health, wellbeing and safety challenges and opportunities faced by Australia’s agricultural workforce, and how research is being translated into action to create better outcomes for the sector as a whole.
Through a combination of workshops, panel discussions and presentations, the event will provide a forum to foster learning, promote discussion and extend collaborative networks to make a difference to farmers’ lives, both now and into the future.

Anyone who uses agricultural chemicals or veterinary medicines should complete some training.
