Our Story
We are a small-scale regenerative organic market garden just 20-min from Ballarat. We cultivate a mix of microgreens for cooks and chefs and grow seasonal vegetable boxes, delivered weekly. We also produce a beautiful range of home-made products. Our hope is to connect people with their food and farmer.
We practice biointensive agriculture which is a regenerative organic practice that centres on growing large amounts of food on small areas of land, while simultaneously continuing to improve the fertility of the soil. It is a combination of ‘biodynamics’ and French-born ‘intensive agriculture’.
Intensive agriculture dates back to the 1800’s in Paris, France. Using the same techniques, we do not use any pesticides or herbicides and don’t use any artificial fertilisers. Instead, we build up our soil with quality compost and manures, the way the French market gardeners or ‘mariarchers‘ did in the 19th Century.
We farm the way we do because we want to leave our land in a better state than we found it, and of course grow food of the highest quality. The condition of our growing environment is, therefore, the most important part of our business and the quality assurance of our produce.
