A lovely dog collar order with pup's name stamped. We make quite a few of these and it's lovely to see what people name their dogs.

To have your dog's name stamped on one of our lovely full bridle leather collars with stainless or solid brass hardware, just select the option in our Dog Collar's and Lead's category on the website with your dog collar order. The collars are made with heavy duty copper rivets to secure the hardware in place and make an excellent collar, with years of use ahead for dog's both in the city or on the farm.
Spot, Banjo, Dash, Bella, Bear, Buddy and Milo (etc.) will be thrilled 🐶

One of our beautiful bridles headed off to a new home. We've been busy making quite a range of pieces lately, but bridles and reins have really been a stand out piece with quite a few orders to be made. They're always a pleasure to make too!

One of our corporate orders completed recently for GDL Rural in QLD.
Our Firm A4 Diary Covers in Dark Brown with custom logo stamp, these covers will be used for their agents map books of the pastoral stations in QLD and NT. The leather in these covers is ideal for the harsher environments of Northern Australia - or anywhere in Australia for that matter - and will handle careful or rough daily usage.

Our Small leather notebook covers - A7 in size - have been very popular lately.
Holding a small pocket notebook and made from kangaroo leather, they will last for years and can be refilled with a new notebook when they run out.

These reins have a lot of work in them to prep ready for plaiting with the 'secret plait', but once they're made they are always a beautiful piece.

We had a great time at the Lost Trades Fair in Bendigo Vic over the weekend just gone and are now back home. Our little assistant this year did really well helping to unpack all the crates and set everything up - though it was all a bit tiring in the end, and a snooze in the bookbinders next door was required.
Thanks to everyone who came to see us there and had a chat or made a purchase, it was great as always to see the support for handmade, rare trades and Australian made. Despite the heat this year, as always it was a terrific fair - well done Team Lost Trades - and was brilliant to catch up with other artisans. We had great neighbours next to us - as always - and the comradery was really there.

Now back home and unpacking and sorting everything, we're back making once again.

International Women's Day 2024
What better way to celebrate today than to be surrounded by other talented women in business, here setting up at the Lost Trades Fair!
To all the women out there - we celebrate you, we support you, we fight for equality and you are a true inspiration! All the mothers, women in business, women striving to make a better world. We are all contributing bit by bit to enable a better future for every woman and girl. May every woman be able to be the person she wants to be, to work in the industry she chooses and to be safe and supported and listened to when she needs to be heard.
And to every woman who manages all those plates she has to keep spinning, as a mum of two children running her own small business, I know just what it's like and I take my hat off to you all.

The Christmas orders are coming in thick and fast at the moment and it's set to be a busy few weeks. With 23 days until Christmas, and 12 days until regular post cutoff we recommend you get your orders in early so we can get them made and out to you in time! We also offer Express post.

These lovely Draught bridles and halters went out recently. We've been kept busy making lots of orders recently, including for owners attending the Gatton Heavy Horse Field Days.
I'd like to wish all our customers competing or attending the field days or other shows this weekend the best of luck. We won't be attending this year due to other commitments but look forward to seeing many of you at the Boonah Clydesdale Spectacular later this year in June.

Our Oxley belts were popular as ever at the Lost Trades Fair a few weeks ago. I saw this comment on one of our posts recently, and was thrilled to read this. It's great to hear that these belts are so well used.

We're out of the workshop early today to take advantage of the sunshine and get some much needed outside work done this afternoon. We've had so much rain lately it's pretty wet underfoot but hopefully we'll have a sunny weekend. I'll be back in the workshop to get a bit done if I can sn**ch a few hours over the weekend between jobs, minding bub and everything else, otherwise we'll be back to work as usual on Monday.
Until then, here's a bit of a flashback to some of our custom made pieces we've made over the years.

What a great weekend we've had at The Lost Trades Fair. Thanks to everyone who took time to have a chat, see how we make our leather goods or made a purchase, we really appreciate it! Was great to see the other artisans and catch up after a long 2 years also.
Thanks to all our helpers - couldn't have done it without you - and thanks to all the team for putting on another wonderful fair, we had a great time and appreciate all the hard work that goes into organising an event like this!

We're on the road today heading for The Lost Trades Fair this weekend in Bendigo! (minus the dog, she would have come too if she could).
After many long days, late nights and weekends spent working to get orders finished, stock made and organising everything to take, the brand new Hilux and trailer are finally packed and ready for her maiden voyage to Victoria (he's only had the car a week!). The hilux will certainly be put to the test in the next few days as we travel 1300km to attend one of Australia's greatest fairs and show you all just how much is still made here in Australia.

As a woman in business and now a mother myself, I'd like to say thank you to all the women out there for what you do and especially to those working in the leather goods industry- you are an inspiration to us all and we wouldn't be where we are today if it wasn't for you. Leather has such a wonderful smell, and some of the beautiful bags we've made and sent out recently have been especially true to this - the leather on our Market Tote is especially lovely and smells wonderful!
We make a few different styles of Tote Bags, and recently, the Birdie and Market Tote have been heading our with regularity, as they always do I guess.

Dreary weather here today, one snake sighting (possible green not brown🤞), punched a big hole in a piece where it wasn't supposed to go and broke a needle on my machine at the most inconvenient time whilst sewing, but did avoid getting leather dye on my new shirt!

There's never a dull day in the workshop, and today was perhaps not the greatest. Something that is pretty great though is our Yachting Rope Horse Halters.

These guys are made from 8mm Australian made marine grade rope that's guaranteed not to rot or break. They're super tough and we make them in sizes Pony, Cob, Full AND Draught - which fits all the big fella's.

Happy New Year everyone! We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year and a bit of a break.

Our little bloke turned ONE on the 1st and we took him to the beach for the first time. He absolutely loved it! Sand castles, waves and water. He's certainly going to enjoy beach trips when we get them. We're lucky to live so close to some of Australia's best beaches here, yet still have the bush right at our door.

In the leatherwork department - we've been back in the workshop making all your orders this week and it's been a busy one, though a slightly easier pace than December. Thank you to all who placed orders last month for Christmas, we hope your gifts were well received!
This year we hope to get back out there to a few of the local markets, as well as attend some of the events we used to so keep an eye out for the events we'll be at. The website will be getting a small makeover later in the year and a few new items will be coming along to add to all the lovely pieces made. For now, we'll keep adding what we're up to on here when we get a chance, and if you'd like to order a beautiful handmade leather piece, pop online and place an order =)

What a busy week! The workshop's been going non stop all week to get all the orders made. Thanks to everyone who's ordered gifts for Christmas.
Number Eight in our Top 10 Christmas gift ideas is our keyrings! We have a beautiful range of keyrings with something to suit nearly everyone.
