Sick of the mess a foraging tray makes? A Seedmate is a great way to contain the foraging medium for your birds to forage within. We love the way this client has used cardboard to make cleaning up any faeces easy and a Traymate to easily clean out the litter and pellets. How do you use your Seedmate at home?
It’s with a very heavy heart that I write this post. Our beloved Brisbane Bird Vet clinic cockatoo “Wally” passed away unexpectedly last night, she turned 32 years old last November. She has been part of the BBV team for 16 years and many clients have come to love her as much as we all do. During Covid she came to live at D’Aguilar Wildlife with our family as she didn’t cope well with a closed clinic and not having any clients come in to say hello. We will always remember her as the social butterfly, flirt and cheeky girl that she was until the very end. We put together a little video of our favourite photos of her over the last 16 years. 💕 Wally, you are loved and will never be forgotten.
A friend has just started a new business “Happy Clucker”. It’s targeted for chicken lovers and she has her first stall at the caboolture markets this morning selling all sorts of chicken treats! You can find her outside the chicken shed today!
We all had high ambitions growing up. Nibbles the Quaker’s goal was exceptionally high. 🦅
Do your birds have a bath to the sweet sound of the vacuum? The boarding birds were all enjoying a bath while I was cleaning the room this morning.
These days I have a little helper in the boarding room. Millie takes her role as treat dispenser very seriously, though I’m not sure if she is telling Shred what a good girl she is or herself. 😂
Teaching your bird to accept medications from a syringe can be a huge help if the time arrived where you had to give them oral medications. I can tell you that your veterinary nurse will thank you for it! This is Marshmellow, a recent boarder, who required medications during her stay. The first syringe is her antibiotic, we paired it with her pain relief which she really enjoyed and used this as a reinforcer for her antibiotics. She also got food rewards during the initial stages of training and when she finishes her medications, though this isn't shown during this video. Isn't she such a wonderful patient!
Brewster is a Blue Fronted Amazon. Typical for the species he loves his nuts and he loves to carry a little extra weight. While on holidays with me we worked on his recall training so he could still get his nuts and do a little exercise as well.
It looks like Coco is happy to be staying at BBB again! Doesn't he have the cutest singing voice?
