We are hiring! Opportunity to join the Bimbadeen Park team. We are looking for two new team members. Position one is for an experienced rider, position includes some stablehand duties as well as riding young thoroughbreds and performance horses. The second position is for an on the ground stablehand. Both positions have the opportunity to bring their own horse to train and compete if wanted.

The Bimbadeen Team all work together to get the racehorses and performance horses cared for and worked each day. 5.5 days work per week. If you are a keen horse person who is not afraid of hard work and is looking to immerse themselves in the horse world then we are keen to hear from you.

Opportunity to train with triple Olympic Medallist Shane Rose. Shane does not teach outside clients so joining the team is the only way to train with him.

Our resident Melbourne Cup Runner ‘Another Warrior’. The 2004 runner finished 16th on a track that didn’t suit him. He is still a stallion and one of the quietest horses on property. He has sired a few of our top level eventers and is still going strong at 23 years of age.

A winning double today for at Gosford with Pick The Score and Shocking Force. Both of these fillies were broken in at Bimbadeen and are regular visitors for some spelling and pretraining. Here is a shot of Pick The Score admiring the sunrise at Booleroo earlier this year. Congratulations to Clarry, his stable, the owners and all connections.

We at Bimbadeen have a long history with thoroughbreds and their life after racing. It’s always a pleasure to work with horses off the track and watch them transform from a racehorse into an Eventing horse.

Below is a little story about Sam Woods, who has worked with the breakers and pretrainers at Bimbadeen for many years. Sam and Cagey are achieving great things in the competition arena. Cagey is a thoroughbred and exracehorse who was trained by Matthew C Smith Racing Pty Ltd.

“It’s his attitude, that thoroughbred attitude, and his will to just find a way to be able to do it, and get it done well," says Sam Woods of Cage Fighter.

After a modest career on the track, Cage Fighter has shown his true mettle under the stewardship of Sam Woods, proving you don’t need the flashiest horse in the field to make the history books.

Saturday was an exciting day of racing for the team at Bimbadeen. We watched on eagerly as the best 2yr olds battled it out in the Gimcrack Stakes and the Breeders Plate. Of these impressive fields, 3 fillies and 4 c**ts were broken in at Bimbadeen this year, including the Breeders Plate winner, Gary Portelli trained Sejardan.

The spotlight has been on Shane a lot lately but we thought we should introduce the real star of the show here at Bimbadeen - Eddie 🐶
Eddie works harder than anyone here and has many roles. Some of which are; round yard supervisor, chief barrier attendant, guard of the cross ties, fast work time keeper, and his most important job of all, number 1 babysitter. Wherever there are people and action, Eddie is there and always smiling 😊 ❤️ 📸

The whole team here at Bimbadeen are so proud of Shane and Virgil, and the rest of the Australian Eventing Team. They all put in an incredible performance to win team Silver at the Tokyo Olympics. Shane’s team mate Andrew Hoy also finished with the individual Bronze.

There is a huge team behind Shane that help to make these things happen, so to the whole team in Tokyo, the staff here at Bimbadeen and to all of our wonderful clients, friends and everyone who have sent msgs and supported Shane, thanks to you all!

Here at Bimbadeen, we often train thoroughbreds at the conclusion of their racing career for a new life as a performance horse.
Over the years, we have seen some wonderful thoroughbreds come through the stables and go on to become eventers at the highest level.
As the eventing competition is about to kick off tomorrow in Tokyo, we thought it was a good opportunity to take a look at one of those special horses.
All Luck (Lucky), by Bao Luck from Mazyooneh, had a fairly average racing career, with one 2nd place from 5 starts and total prize money of $1000.
However as an eventer, Lucky won countless competitions in Australia and also travelled the world competing. He was a member of the Australian Eventing team at the World Championships in 2006, and in the same year also placed 3rd at Burghley Horse Trials in England. In 2008, he was a part of the silver medal winning team at the Beijing Olympics and was the best cross country round of the day, going clear and in the fastest time.
Lucky was the ultimate athlete and event horse. He was extremely talented, and very trainable with a super attitude. He was also an absolute gentleman around the stables and was extremely well loved by everyone, particularly his owner Angela Shacklady.
Shane says that Lucky was possibly the best horse of his career. Once retired from eventing he became a cherished dressage horse for a great friend of Shane’s Judy Horder. He later lived out the rest of his days in a grassy paddock at Bimbadeen.
