PARIS 2024 | Today, during the cross-country phase of the Eventing competition, Australian team member Kevin McNab elected to retire his horse 'Don Quidam' on course in the horse's best interest.

The horse has been assessed by the Australian team veterinarian, who advised that 'Don Quidam' has sustained a soft tissue injury and is currently undergoing treatment. The horse is expected to make a full recovery.

Reserve athlete Shenae Lowings will step into the team position to complete the jumping phase tomorrow.

Does this face look familiar?⠀
When it comes to worming or administration of oral medication, many horses just refuse to comply. ⠀
If your horse suddenly turns into a giraffe when you approach with a syringe, it can set up a pattern between you that makes it even harder to get the medicine in.⠀

If every time is a battle, it simply confirms for the horse, that he was right all along as each experience becomes more and more frustrating and unpleasant.⠀

Making 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗺𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘆, is a great way to get your horse to be more compliant.⠀

I send this clip of Warwick Schiller to some of my clients who are having difficulty with oral meds or worming.⠀

We have had great success with it.⠀
Here is the link to this helpful clip by Warwick.⠀

Hey everyone!

I’m looking for a couple of horses with a scar or scarring to test a potential new product.

If you have a horse with a noticeable scar or scarring, please message me with a picture of the horse and the damage.

Must be visible to the naked eye.
Doesn’t have to be recent.

𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗝𝗼𝗯:

Photograph the scar clearly before we start the trial

Apply the trial product daily ( at a minimum)

Photograph the scar again after 4 weeks, and replicate the first picture as closely as possible.

Send me the photos.

Continue this protocol for 12 weeks.

Give a testimonial if the product is successful in reducing the size or prominence of the scar.

𝗠𝘆 𝗝𝗼𝗯:

Supply you with the trial product and postage at no cost to you

Check in with you every 4 weeks and send more product.

Do a hula dance if the product is successful. 😂

Please Not: this is for you established and healed scars. Not open wounds .

I look forward to you getting in touch.

Latherin is a component of sweat. It’s what makes the foamy white lather on the horse. It doesn’t mean a horse is overworked.⠀
Just like humans, some horses sweat more than others.⠀

Latherin is a protein that is also a surfactant.⠀
That means it breaks the surface tension of other liquids and can produce foam.⠀
It basically behaves like a soap. ⠀

Latherin is also in saliva and helps the horse to chew and digest forage. ⠀
In theory, latherin in the sweat helps with evaporative cooling on the body.⠀
The coat of the horse traps sweat even in hot weather. ⠀
The latherin helps to glue the sweat together to assist in cooling. It is what makes the sweaty patches “slick and slippery”. ⠀

The neck where reins are present and between the num checks is the most commonly seen. Where there is friction, there will be foamy sweat. ⠀
This is a good sign that your hors’s inbuilt cooling system is doing its job!⠀

If your horse 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀𝗻'𝘁 sweat like this at all, that can be a whole different issue. This can⠀
Be due to lymphatic congestion or kidney and fluid balance.⠀

There are some⠀
Awesome herbs that deal with kidney and fluid in the horse.⠀
Juniper, celery, uva ursi and others depending on how the horse manifests its symptoms.

When I do a holistic health assessment on a horse, I have 5 pages of questions to complete.
Urine output and consistency is one of them.
There are no exact rules, but knowing what your horse’s “normal” is, is essential.

Normal horse urine is slightly cloudy. This can be due to the calcium carbonate crystals present in urine.

It may be slightly foamy. This is due to the presence of mucus in urine. The mucus is normal sticky and helps to prevent calcium carbonate crystals from forming urinary calculi.

I give a list of adjectives to describe colour.
Horse urine can vary in color, from light yellow to dark yellow., straw coloured, golden.
The color can change within one voiding session. It’s normal to see dark going to light.

Things to watch for:
Blood in the urine means call the vet immediately.
Interrupted flow or when a horse assumes the position and then walks away and tries somewhere else.
This can be indicative of a urinary tract infection.
There are super herb to help dissolve urinary calculi and clean up infection.

Reuben is a great horse

This is a very regretful sale. Reuben is an unraced, 9 year old thoroughbred, standing 15 hands. He's a stunning chestnut with white socks and a blaze. He has a soft snaffle mouth and is a very good keeper. Reuben is currently working in a riding school and is very popular with clients. He's friendl...
