🐾🦮 Class IV K-Laser therapy, also known as photobiomodulation is often used for arthritis in older dogs because it can provide several benefits.

It helps reduce pain and inflammation, improve circulation, and enhance tissue repair.
In older dogs with arthritis, these effects can lead to increased mobility, improved joint function, and an overall enhanced quality of life.

It's a non-invasive and often well-tolerated treatment option for managing chronic pain associated with arthritis. A referral from your veterinarian is recommended so we can determine if it's appropriate for your dog and to establish a suitable treatment plan.

This would have to be one of my greatest achievements this year, meeting Jax a 2 year old Huntaway.

Jax was referred to me from Greencross Vet Hospital with a partial torn cruciate ligament, a highly anxious patient he was so nervous coming into the vet clinic, and in general coming into any vet clinic he would be so scared and hide in the corner and shake.

I have video’s or photos of what Jax was like because any sudden movements would scare Jax. After Four K-laser session, lots of treats and lots of breaks to Jax use to myself, his owner was able to sit with her other dog in the consult room while I was able to treat Jax all on my own. I actually cant even describe how incredibly proud I am of Jax and how far he has come.

Laser therapy involves the use of High-level laser light to stimulate specific points on the dog's body, promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety. The process is non-invasive and typically painless. The focused laser light triggers a release of endorphins, which are natural chemicals that induce a calming effect in the dog.

Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) in dogs can be a serious condition affecting the spinal discs. Treatment can vary based on the severity of the disease. Conservative management often includes rest, pain medication, anti-inflammatories, Laser therapy and physical therapy. More severe cases might require surgery to decompress the spinal cord and stabilize the spine. Seeing your veterinarian for a proper diagnosis, then a referral to me for a treatment plan tailored to your dog's specific situation.

Class 4 laser therapy can be a beneficial treatment for dogs with intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).

It's a non-invasive technique that uses focused light to stimulate tissue healing and reduce pain and inflammation. This modern and high powered technology is leading the way in how we treat chronic pain.

However, the "best" treatment varies based on the severity of the condition and the dog's overall health. Laser therapy can be used in conjunction with other treatments like medication, physical therapy, and surgery for the best possible outcome for your pet.

Treating my own 11 year old dog with laser therapy, who has severe shoulder pain. After five treatments she was back to her normal self running around after the birds.
It can be very beneficial for dogs with shoulder pain or other musculoskeletal issues to have laser therapy for several reasons:

🐾Pain Reduction: K-laser therapy can help reduce pain by promoting the release of endorphins, which are natural painkillers. It also has anti-inflammatory effects, which can alleviate pain associated with conditions like arthritis or soft tissue injuries in the shoulder.

🐾 Improved Circulation: The laser light can increase blood flow to the affected area, which can enhance oxygen and nutrient delivery to the tissues. Improved circulation can accelerate the healing process and reduce muscle spasms.

🐾 Accelerated Healing: Laser therapy stimulates cell growth and tissue repair. It can help repair damaged cells and tissues more quickly, which can be particularly beneficial for dogs with shoulder injuries or degenerative conditions.

🐾 Non-Invasive: Laser therapy is non-invasive, meaning there are no incisions or injections involved. This makes it a safe and comfortable treatment option for dogs, minimizing the risk of side effects or complications.

🐾 Improved Mobility: Dogs with shoulder pain often experience limited mobility. Laser therapy can help improve joint flexibility and range of motion, allowing your dog to move more comfortably.

K-Laser acupuncture combines traditional acupuncture techniques with the use of laser therapy. The key benefits associated with K-Laser acupuncture include:

It's important to note that while K-Laser acupuncture has shown promise in various clinical settings, its effectiveness can vary depending on the specific condition being treated and the individual patient. It's essential to consult with a qualified healthcare professional or acupuncturist to determine whether K-Laser acupuncture is an appropriate treatment option for your specific needs. Additionally, always seek treatment from a trained and certified practitioner to ensure safety and efficacy.

🐶 Non-Invasive: Unlike traditional acupuncture, which involves inserting needles into the skin, K-Laser acupuncture is non-invasive. This can make it a more attractive option for individuals who are hesitant about needle-based therapies.

🐶 Pain Relief: K-Laser acupuncture can help alleviate pain, including acute and chronic pain conditions. The laser therapy stimulates the release of endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving substances in the body.

🐾 Reduced Inflammation: Laser therapy can help reduce inflammation in the affected areas, making it effective for conditions like arthritis, tendonitis, and other inflammatory conditions.

🐶 Faster Healing: K-Laser acupuncture can promote tissue regeneration and accelerate the healing process by increasing blood flow to the treated area and stimulating cellular repair.

🐾 Targeted Treatment: K-Laser acupuncture allows for precise targeting of specific acupuncture points and areas of the body, enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment.

I have a Class 4 High- intensity laser therapy (HILT) which offers several benefits compared to low-intensity laser therapy (LILT) for dogs, but it's important to understand that HILT should be administered by trained professionals, which I have done. It carries a higher risk of adverse effects if not used correctly. Here are the benefits of HILT and why it's typically reserved for professionals:

Benefits of High-Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT): 🐾🐾🐾

Faster and More Potent Effects:
HILT delivers a higher energy output, which can result in more rapid and pronounced therapeutic effects. This is beneficial for addressing acute conditions or providing quicker pain relief.

Deeper Tissue Pe*******on:
HILT can pe*****te deeper into tissues, making it suitable for targeting conditions involving joints, deep muscles, or other structures that may be challenging to reach with LILT.

Stronger Pain Relief:
HILT can offer more robust pain relief, making it suitable for dogs with severe pain, such as those recovering from surgery or suffering from advanced arthritis.

Enhanced Cellular Healing:
The increased energy levels of HILT can stimulate cellular repair and growth more effectively, promoting tissue healing and reducing inflammation.

Eye Protection:
The laser beams used in HILT can be harmful to the eyes, both for the dog and the operator. Safety goggles or shields are essential during treatment.

Optimal Treatment:
Professionals can assess a dog's condition, adjust the laser settings, and provide the appropriate treatment plan tailored to the specific needs of the dog.

In summary, high-intensity laser therapy offers advantages over low-intensity therapy for specific cases.
I hope this helps answer some questions you might have.

MYOTHERAPY FOR HEALTHY AGING
Myotherapy is a manual therapy technique that focuses on the assessment, treatment, and management of musculoskeletal conditions in animals, including older dogs. It involves the application of various hands-on techniques, such as massage, stretching, and joint mobilization, to promote pain relief, improve mobility, and enhance overall well-being. Here's how myotherapy can benefit older dogs:

1) Pain management: Older dogs commonly experience musculoskeletal pain due to age-related conditions like arthritis, joint degeneration, or muscle stiffness. Myotherapy techniques, such as massage and gentle stretching, can help alleviate pain by promoting relaxation, reducing muscle tension, and releasing endorphins, which are natural pain-relieving chemicals.

2) Improved mobility and flexibility: Aging can lead to a loss of mobility and flexibility in dogs. Myotherapy can address muscle imbalances, improve joint range of motion, and increase muscle flexibility. The techniques used in myotherapy can help relieve muscle stiffness, increase blood circulation, and reduce adhesions or scar tissue formation, which can impede movement.

3) Enhanced musculoskeletal function: Myotherapy aims to restore and maintain the optimal function of the musculoskeletal system. By targeting specific areas of concern, myotherapists can help identify and address muscular imbalances, trigger points, or areas of decreased muscle tone. These interventions can improve muscle strength, coordination, and balance, supporting the dog's ability to move comfortably and perform daily activities.

4)Relaxation and stress reduction: Older dogs may experience increased stress and anxiety due to age-related changes, discomfort, or decreased mobility. Myotherapy sessions provide a calming and soothing experience for the dog, promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels. This can have a positive impact on their overall well-being and quality of life.

5) Complementary treatment approach: Myotherapy can be used in conjunction with other veterinary interventions, such as medication, physical therapy, laser therapy, or hydrotherapy, to provide a comprehensive and holistic approach to managing the health of older dogs. It can complement other treatments by addressing muscular issues and promoting overall musculoskeletal health.

It's important to note that myotherapy should be performed by a qualified and experienced practitioner who has specific training in animal myotherapy. They will assess the dog's condition, tailor the treatment to meet individual needs, and provide guidance on exercises, home care, and additional therapies that may be beneficial for the dog's well-being. Consulting with a veterinarian is always recommended to ensure the appropriate management of any underlying medical conditions.

Routine surgeries such as ovariohysterectomy (or spays) or C section in small animals can create painful at the surgical site due to inflammation and tissue trauma. This stretching or tearing of the tissue ligaments in ovariohysterectomy can leave the animal in pain and swelling. Laser therapy has a positive effect on the post operative wound site, it increases oxygen and nutrients to the cells, this leading to enhanced protein and enzyme production. These factors ultimately lead to normalization of the cell function. This helps repair to damage tissue faster, reduce inflammation and swelling.
We had beautiful Koda come to visit us after having a C section for delivering her healthy pups. Her owner even with her sleep deprivation helping with feeding the pups, wanted Koda to heal fast and wanted the best outcome for her. After two Laser session her scar was significantly smaller and Koda was walking move comfortable, with no swelling or abdominal pain. We have the first photo of the wound before laser therapy treatment and then the second of the wound after laser therapy treatment.

🐾🐾💕💕 Meet Cooper, we was referred for the degree of muscle atrophy (wastage) indicated in his hindlimb, and the pain associated with his lower lumber.
His dedicated owner where very keen on helping him with at home exercise and come for a 6-laser therapy session at the Greencross Vet Hospital.

Therapeutic laser, or class 4 k-laser therapy has been introduced for rehabilitation purposes and delivers more power than low-level lasers, but less power than surgical lasers. Therapeutic lasers have become increasingly popular in both small and large animal rehabilitation for a variety of conditions.
The lasers used in rehabilitation help to modulate cellular functions.

This process is known as photobiostimulation and is defined as nonthermal interaction of monochromatic radiation with a target site, such as mitochondrial respiration and adenosine, triphosphate (ATP) synthesis, to accelerate wound and joint healing, and to promote muscle regeneration.

Combining this with Therapeutic exercises and massage therapy are undoubtedly the most important aspects of rehabilitation and getting the best outcome for your pet. In addition, most of these exercises help improve muscle strength, joint mobility, and limb use.

If Facebook would let upload the video of coopers moving more freely you can see the difference what laser therapy and rehab can do for your pet. 🤣🤣🤣🤦🏼‍♀️
It worked on my Instagram account, if you would like to see the videos.

Here is 6 reason why I chose to use K-Laser for my laser therapy and rehabilitation work. 🐾🐶🐕‍🦺

Class IV K-Laser Performance 30:
- exceeds from far any laser device on the market on any technical features.
- offers absolutely all technical features offered by any other laser device on the market

Here are the technical features:
1) The number of wavelengths provided by the unit, as each wavelength targets specific chromophores in the tissue and triggers distinct effects.
For instance, my K-Laser Performance-30 offers 4 different wavelengths.
=> Most units on the market only offer 1 or 2 wavelengths

2) The average power of the unit, which affects the speed and depth of treatment. Units with higher average power, such as the Performance-30 (max 25W), can deliver energy to deep tissues in as little as 3-5 minutes.
=> Most laser units on the market only provide a few watts and no heat can be felt. Thes machine require 15-45 minutes for treatment.

3) The type of pulsing available on the unit, including:
- Continuous Wave
- Pulsed Wave
- SuperPulsed Waves.
Different pulsing types are suited to different tissue types and coat colors,.
For example, SuperPulsed Waves are particularly effective for deep tissue treatments (knees, hips, and back) but also help getting through dark coats which typically stop ordinary laser beams.
=> Most units on the market offer either Continuous Waves (CW), Pulsed Waves (PW), or SuperPulsed Waves (SPW), never all of them. The K-Laser does!

4) The ability to treat by phases, which allows for more precise and customized treatment by dividing the laser treatment into different successive configurations in order to optimize energy saturation of tissue.
=> Most lasers do not offer treatment by phases. The K-Laser can provide up to 12 phases per treatment.

5) Portability:
Typically, laser units weigh 5kg or more. However, the K-Laser is an exception to this trend, as it only weighs 1.5 kg. This makes it easy to transport and handle for the treatment of horses or small animals in cages.

6) K-Laser's software can be easily updated through Wi-Fi so all K-Laser users always have access to the latest and most efficient configurations.

K laser therapy is the gold standard in care for animals. I’m so glad I use the same one.

We at K-Laser would like to extend our gratitude to Mesker Zoo for entrusting us with the care of their beloved jaguar. It was an honor to provide treatment for the jaguar's elbow arthritis using our Performance 30 laser. We are thrilled to see such positive results and to be a part of the incredible work that Mesker Zoo does to care for their animals. Thank you, Mesker Zoo, for all that you do!

💪🏽 Myotherapist

I highly suggest taking your dog to a myotherapist to be evaluated from a young age.

Why ? Even if your dog seems like they are “fine”, a myotherapist is trained to pick up on things the average owner won’t notice.

If your dog has a in balance in their body, in time these may also become primary problems in themselves because of changes in the soft tissues, which lead to unprotected joints, possible damage to the joints, and a painful response.

Dogs suffering a permanent low-grade condition, such as osteoarthritis, will benefit from seeing a myotherapist.

A massage, laser therapy, and a structured exercise program helps to encourage blood flow, delivery of nutrients, and maintenance of soft tissue extensibility.

Walking pole exercises help with body balance and correct movement by opening the awareness of the body’s biomechanics. Positive proprioceptive responses improve joint articulation and muscle flexion/extension in a controlled way, very much like a slow Pilates session for dogs.

All the exercises must be done with the dog in a controlled walk.
Walking the dog over a variety of pole exercises, is great for freeing up the dogs back, lumbar and pelvis, as the hindquarters are activated to step through and under the abdomen, lifting the back via the bi-lateral abdominal contraction as the rib cage lifts and swings evenly as each hind leg steps through.

I recently took both dachshunds to Krystal to be evaluated.
I wanted to make sure they were moving correctly.
I wanted to make sure they were not weight bearing or favouring a certain leg.
I wanted to know they had good muscle mass not only in their hind legs but also around their spine.

If something is picked up from a early age it can be corrected. If your dog is weight bearing a certain leg and are “uneven” they are much more susceptible to injury.

Dogs are just like humans
We need to keep their Skelton system in tip top shape 🫶
Get them checked
Go see a Myotherapist.
Prevention is key 🔑

A Class IV Therapeutic Laser 🐾🐶🐈😻
Located at Greencross vets Hoppers Crossing.

What is it?
🔅 Class IV lasers are high powered hot lasers which require a licence from the Radiation Protection Unit of the Dept of Health.

How is it different from other light therapies?
🔅High Intensity Laser Therapy (HILT) achieves deeper pe*******on of tissues resulting in more efficient treatment times.
🔅This makes it suitable for treating lesions in areas such as the back and pelvis.

How does it work?
🔅It utilises visible and near-infrared wavelengths targeting specific chromophores in tissues
🔅targets cytochrome c oxidase to generate ATP (cellular energy) to accelerate healing
🔅improves oxygenation for increased cellular metabolism
🔅Improves circulation via vasodilation
🔅modulates inflammatory mediators, downregulating pain pathways

Effective in treating a variety of conditions, acute or chronic:
🔅back, neck, muscle pain and inflammation
🔅tendonitis, desmitis (suspensory ligaments)
🔅wounds and injuries
🔅osteoarthritis management
🔅acupuncture points

The laser device is completely portable so treatment can be carried out on your premises. Laser therapy is cumulative and can be used as a supplementary tool in injury prevention and maintaining the canine athlete.

Adorable Dot 🐾🦴😍

Dot was referred for treatment of Osteoarthritis, Dot’s owners where interested in the K-laser therapy treatment for pain management and looking for an alternative treatment from anti-infalmmatories. We use K-Laser Cube 4, which is considered the gold standard in therapeutic laser therapy. This Class 4 laser is the most powerful therapy K-laser available today in either veterinary or human medicine today. In addition to being the most powerful laser available, it is also the only laser that uses four separate frequencies of laser light to stimulate tissues. Most of the other lasers on the market are either one or two frequency lasers. By using four distinct frequencies the Cube 4 can stimulate different tissues to do different things. The interface is designed specifically for animals so we can accurately administer the right laser dosage to the injured area time & time again. Correct dosing in paramount to achieve a desired clinical outcome.

The best part about laser therapy is that there are virtually no side effects. Where is inflammation in the body, the laser can be used to help heal tissues, reduce pain and inflammation that is associated with Osteoarthritis, decrease stiffness, and improve range of motion while walking. It truly is a revolutionary breakthrough in how we treat our cases

Dot was given the induction phase series of six laser treatments over a 6-week period. Her owner reported Dot has better range of motion in her walking and is not limping anymore.

Every time Dot strutted into the clinic, she always so happy, and would the most generous hugs. I am so grateful in my line of work to able to meet some incredible people.

Laser therapy aims to restore the normal biological function of an injured or stressed cell. Increased metabolic activity, increased blood flow, oxygen, and nutrient availability, leading to enhanced protein and enzyme production. These factors ultimately lead to normalization of the cell function. They stimulate and accelerate cell reproduction and growth, leading to faster repair of damage tissue and decrease inflammation. This just helps the cells do their normal job in an oxygen rich environment.
