Hi everyone! Practice Update: We are CLOSED.

After a long and tough 6 months we’ve been working hard on saving our dream and reopening.

Unfortunately we have had to make the best decision we can right now and close down. This was an incredibly difficult decision for us and a lot of thought and effort went in to making it.

With Dr Emetia's ongoing struggles with her leg, on top of everything else, we are unable to offer a vet service. We need to focus on her recovery.

We would like to thank each and every one of our loyal clients for all of the support, care and friendship we've developed these last 4 years. We loved every minute of it and made some really great memories.

Thanks to everyone for all your love and encouragement. We will miss you all.

Please email us on [email protected] with your vet of choice so we can transfer histories for you.

We are thankful to everyone for the understanding in what has been a very tough time for our business and apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.

TEMPORARY CLOSURE DUE TO FLOODING

Dear clients
Last week during the storms we experienced an unforeseen flooding incident in the hospital. At this stage we unfortunately have to close until further notice due to the storm damage.
If you have any queries or questions please do not hesitate to call. We will still be manning the phones.
We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause, and we thank you for your understanding. We will keep everyone updated as we go on and we hope to see all our little fur patients soon again.

DENTAL PROMOTION!

From 1 August until end of September we are launching our biggest dental promotion yet. We are offering free dental checks with a nurse or vet.

If a dental is required $80 off a Grade 1 or Grade 2 dental, and $100 off a Grade 3 or 4 dental.

If your dog's teeth look anything like the 3 pictures below it is time to book for a scale and polish. Both these dogs have grade 1 dental disease which required a quick anaesthetic and scale and polish, if left for too long this can progress to developing significant gingivitis and possible root damage requiring tooth extractions.

Please call us to book in your free dental check now on (02) 4323 6023.

Exciting news! West Gosford Vet would like to welcome the newest member of our vet team, Dr Naomi Lessels.

A message from Naomi:

"I’m Naomi and I’ve been working as a vet on the Central Coast for almost 30 years in small animal practice. I love both dogs and cats but also rabbits and wildlife work. My long term relationships with my clients and their pets means the world to me.

I am the mum to two gorgeous young men Luke and Jai who are doing plumbing and carpentry apprenticeships respectively and also have three fur babies…. Tommy and Cersi are my two cats and I have a sassy Pomeranian that came from Claws and Paws named Bb.

I’m an avid photographer and surfer in my free time and recently got my scuba ticket so have added diving with manta rays and sharks to my free time activities.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all and getting to know you too."

If you would like to book an appointment with Dr Naomi please call us on (02) 4323 6023

ITCHY SEASON IS HERE! CALL THE PRACTICE REGARDING A TAILOR MADE MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR YOUR PET.

Itchy time is here! It is Autumn and even though we are having cooler nights this is the most itchy time on the coast.

The major culprit is Native Wandering Jew. This w**d grows along lawns and in a lot of public areas, bushland, dog parks and garden features. When not flowering it is quite hard to recognise in your lawn, but the blue flowers are quite recognisable. The pollen from this plant causes a lot of the allergies in animals. The microscopic pollens get stuck in our pets' fur, between toes, and on that soft belly skin.

This little itchy friend I found at my front door yesterday. As you can see the pest even grows from garden beds and creeps along the ground at a rapid pace. This has literally grown in front of our front door in the last few days because of all the rain we've had.

We are proud members of the helpline. If you are concerned at all that your pet has ingested something they shouldn't have, just call them for free advice.

It can be a stressful experience to find out that your pet has ingested something they should not have. The Animal Poisons Helpline is here to support you and your pet through such circumstances if they ever occur.

Our team will assess the exposure and let you know if your pet needs to be rushed off to a veterinary clinic or can be observed at home. We will also provide clear advice on any necessary first-aid measures that should be performed.

To help us assess the exposure, we may ask for the following information:

✅ Details about your pet such as their name, breed, age, weight, and prior medical conditions.

✅ Details about the poison they have been exposed to such as the product name and dilution. Where possible, try to have the product packaging in front of you when you call.

✅ Details about the exposure such as the route of exposure (ingestion, skin exposure, eye exposure), the amount ingested or missing and the time of exposure.

✅ If your pet has developed any signs of poisoning.

✅ Details of any treatment that has already been performed prior to calling us.

This information helps our team make a refined risk assessment and allows us to give the best advice possible.

☎️ If your pet has ingested something they should not have, please phone the Animal Poisons Helpline on 1300 869 738 (AU) or 0800 869 738 (NZ) for advice. The Animal Poisons Helpline provides a free service for all pet owners in Australia and New Zealand, and we can rapidly determine if your pet requires immediate veterinary assessment or can be observed at home.
