โจ SPECIAL POST โจ
Mr Darcy - our WagginTails king ๐
Thank you for being such a loyal member of the WagginTails family for the past 15 years!!!
We can hear you arrivng from a mile away, you can't get in the door fast enough and you sure do make the most of your WagginTails visits ๐ Your days are filled with non stop playing with your fur-iends (special mention to your bestie Polly of 14 years), getting cuddles from all the staff and are always first in line for treats.
You are so full of personality & certainly live up to your name.
We appreciate you & your family and cherish the time we've spent hanging out over the years. Here's to many more awesome daycare days and we can't wait to celebrate YOUR birthday next week
Take a bow Mr D, we all adore you.
Pack Leader Cassi has been working with Bruce since the beginning of 2024 on this little fun routine.
It involves four tricks: Sit, Down, Tunnel and Pose.
When they first started working on this Bruce was skeptical of the tunnel so they needed to break the steps into small parts. There were also some problem solving taking place as Bruce would try to jump onto the box rather than place his front paws.
Trick training can have so many benefits including:
Strengthening bonds
Lots of fun for both trainer and dog
Builds your dogs listening capabilities
Helps you become a better trainer as you learn to work with your dog and problem solve
And so much more!
Give Bruce a big ๐ in the comments for a job very well done!.
Training Tip Tuesday: Long Lines/ Long Leashes.
These are an amazing maintenance tool for ensuring your dog is kept safe at all times but still gets the opportunity to sniff and explore!

Training Tip Tuesday! Today's tip is a fun for all game.
This is the perfect enrichment activity when you are on the go or just need a second to wind down but the dog has other plans.
Step 1. If you live in a house with a front or back yard, lock your dogs inside and hide treats around the yard for them. These can be both easy and difficult levels (depending on your dogs skills) Remember you don't want to set them up to fail, this is all about succeeding and having fun!.
If you live in an apartment, lock your dog on the balcony or in the bathroom and hide treats around the house.
โ Hide on places they can reach
โ Hide in/ under objects that are not dangerous
โ place objects in the way to make it more difficult (as long as safe to do so)
Step 2. Ask your dog to sit and wait before they can go explore. This helps build impulse control and their listening skills/ bond to you. Once they are sitting and waiting use their release command. Ours for example is 'FREE' and away they go!!!
This activity uses natural instincts of scent and brainpower to decipher where the treat is located. Not only will they have so much fun searching they will also have small wins each time they find one and be nice and tired by the end. Audrey and Wรผrstchen after just a 20min session curled up on the lounge for 45minutes happy/content- wouldn't that be nice.
Please note: in these videos you may notice Audrey is a bit wobbly on her hind legs. She was paralysed just under 3 years ago and has since learned how to use her back legs and is still gaining muscle. Her wobbly legs is completely normal for her and these kind of exercises (where you see her use her hind legs to find the treat) are fantastic to continue help building her back legs strength ๐

Appropriate social interactions.
Is there a right and wrong way to introduce dogs? Absolutely!
There are various factors involved when introducing dogs
1. Breed
2. Size
3. Age
4. Energy level
5. Play style
6. Outside factors (if a dog has been previously attacked etc)
Every breed has their own style of play. For example boxers love to box and use their front paws and have static behaviours/ movements- this can be very intimidating to a small/ reserved breeds and even cause harm if the accidentally paw too hard.
Every dog will have a different presence in a social situation. Mixing a calm or older dog with a more excitable dog or young puppy if done wrong could scare or harm the other dog as their introduction style will be vastly different.
How to ensure an appropriate social interaction occurs?
Learn correct dog body language and monitor both dogs
Advocate for your dog! If you are uncomfortable with an interaction move away and seek a qualified trainers help.
