Waiting until your puppy becomes an adolescent or allowing their coat to become severely matted before grooming is like throwing a toddler into the ocean and expecting them to swim.

It’s a disturbing thought, right?

Think about how we teach human children to swim: they start with their parents in the pool, gradually becoming comfortable with the environment. This initial exposure is akin to introducing your puppy to grooming at home. As children progress, they join small groups, sometimes with floating devices, guided by an instructor who helps them build confidence and skills. Eventually, they become capable swimmers, moving on to the big pool.

Similarly, grooming is a vital part of your puppy’s health and well-being, especially since many modern dog breeds require regular grooming throughout their lives. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about their overall health and needs to be gradually introduced and taught.

When you wait too long to start grooming your puppy, it’s like throwing us groomers into the ocean, too. Sure, we can try to save them, but it’s a long swim back to shore, one that your puppy may never fully recover from. So, why do so many people commit to getting a puppy but fail to set them up for a lifetime of proper care, as we would with human children? Is it because neglect is more apparent in a child or because human neglect has harsher consequences?

We recommend brushing your puppy at home, exposing them to the sounds of a blow dryer, and playing with their paws from six weeks old. After your puppy’s third vaccination, they should then be exposed to the professional grooming environment, ideally through short and frequent visits. This way, by the time your puppy needs their first haircut, they will be confident little swimmers.

Puppies deserve the same patience, care and start to life, as our human babies. 🐶🐾❤️

The decision to increase my prices was not taken lightly and came down to increase my prices or sadly close my doors.
It has taken me a long time to crunch all the numbers to try and keep it as affordable as possible. I understand that my prices may not fit into everyone budgets but your understanding and loyalty is appreciated more than you know.

1st July 2024 I will be increasing my prices as well as restructuring some services.
These increases are to keep my small business above water and in operation. I can no longer absorb the extra costs due to an influx of overheads.

I will be adding an extra small breed price chart, and also short and long coat pricing. Breed specific clips will fall into the long coat pricing as it requires extra time to achieve.

I will upload a chart with sizes and weights leading up to the 1st July.
