Each summer, warm weather brings a rise in snake activity as they look for food, water and quiet places to hide. Here are a few precautions you can take to keep your pets safe:
🐾 Ensure your yard is clear of piles of clutter or rubbish where snakes may hide
🐾 Keep your dog on a leash while walking – especially near areas where snakes might be hiding
🐾 Keep cats indoors or in a snake-proof outdoor enclosure
If you see a snake, do not try to catch it. Keep your distance and if needed, call a licensed snake handler to have it removed.
Snake bites may not always be obvious. If you suspect your pet has been bitten, take them immediately to your nearest vet as the sooner they are treated, the better their chance of survival.
